It's all been said Rotty, but a point you should for sure pick up on is Espesh when he said small group.
The TOG ts server main channel can become very loud and confusing (no criticism, just the nature of the beast), so find a couple of people who are heading off, ask to tag along and move to a quieter channel.

I really can't reinforce enough the comments on how immersive this sim is - Tourok and I spending and hour and 15 minutes in the pitch black in the woods moving only on compass bearings - and coming out exactly where we wanted? insanely satisfying.
Taking down your first hostile survivor - like noises, my hands were shaking and my heart racing.

If you would like, there is a small group I run with most nights - be happy to have you tag along and show some of why this game is so unique.
Just shoot me a PM or reply in here and we'll come find you!

(Oh - and remember to TOG face up!- "If the face aint white and blue, do to them before they do to you!")

I have very fond memories of the old Delta games. But if anything, stealth and tactics matter far more, and have far greater depth in this mod - although less with this patch than some earlier ones.

Try this: Spawn, find where you are, and then log off. Find yourself on the loot map, pick some nearby loot spot that's more or less on it's own. If you spawn in the west, there's quite a few deerstands. If you stay low and pick your time to move in, you shouldn't be spotted by zeds, and you've got a pretty good chance of finding a decent weapon.

Jump on TS and see if you can get some help. There's usually a couple of people available, but occasionally everyone will be busy and very tense, so if you sense stress in the voice of the other players, just chill and listen to what's going on. I learn stuff on TS all the time, even when I'm not with the group.

Well since playing most of today I managed to find an axe which made for much more enjoyment but I'm still gonna can the game.
After getting a weapon and spending hours searching various places including an airport the game once more ruined itself for me by never finding any food and eventually dying.
Seriously I cannot understand how anyone without serious mental problems could design such a game.
Its doesn't matter how good you are if there are not enough drops to even keep yourself alive without taking damage from mobs/players then the game is broken and as such I'm not gonna stress myself out dealing with stupid game mechanics.

Maybe I'll check back in at times but I don't hold any real hopes for playing. Pity really but my mental health is more important to me than any game

I take my hat off to those that find enjoyment playing but I'm not sure I'd want to socialise with people who think this game is fun and working properly lol

This would make a good mental health evaluation tool I think

cheers all and have fun

It's an alpha build, so not all the mechanics are perfect. You won't get spoonfed anything so far as equipment goes. The game is what you make it. It's undeniably a stressful experience, but the payoff is far greater than any FPS.

This game isn't for everyone.

I don't think anyone that plays this game is dumb thats for sure.
Just different strokes for different folks.
I'm glad that there are people that have found a home with this game, I just wish it had turned out to be something I could enjoy since its quite close to what I'd like to play.
But I'll keep hoping that something will come along that suits me but won't hold my breath

have fun

I would take a break and come back a few patches down the line if I was you Rotty, the game is being tweaked and updated all the time.

I agree with you 100% about the food spawning though, it's frustrating and definitely a bit broken compared to the amount of drink that spawns, outside of supermarkets I usually find about 10 x as many cans of pop compared to tins of food, my characters teeth must be falling out by now with all that sugar.

Once you have matches and an axe you're set though, all that walking food. As for finding weapons, I've never found that to be a problem. I've been in barns with 4 or 5 axes lying about, usually with shotguns, not to mention wading past hordes of Makarovs, all giving me their best 'come hither' look. That said, I am a bit sick of looking in empty deer stands, and passing over more DMR mags than I'd care to mention without ever glance at the thing that fires them. Oddly, I've still yet to see an enfield, despite playing for nearing 3 weeks.

You sir, are a terrible liar!

I can't go anywhere without stumbling across one or more of them.

@Rotty: shame, mate. The rest of us love it. It's soooo much easier to lose zombies chasing you now too. It's meant to be a bitch at first, you just have to learn a few tricks. I personally suspect a lot of the big influx has been fPS gamers looking to branch out - none of us are scared of dying, and most of us learn fast

If food is an issue, try killing Z's and searching them. They quite often carry beans with them.
