Oh ME!!! But I've only heard it because a friend linked it for me. I struggle with Portal, partly because I'm not that clever and partly because the simulation nausea hits me suddenly and at the oddest moments with that game. But I enjoy the challenge.

And that song rocks!

I can't wait for portal 2.

I played the original game that portal was based on, Narbacular Drop, although I got stuck in that and never finished. You can also see the massive improvement in the original game to portal release.

Quote:
After the release of Narbacular Drop, Valve, developers of the Half-Life series, discovered it and hired the entire development team to work for them. The team developed Portal, a spiritual successor to Narbacular Drop, using the same basic concept. In Portal, the player takes the role of a test subject tasked with trying out the "Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device", and along the way discovers that the test facility has been mysteriously abandoned. The main antagonist is a sentient artificial intelligence named GLaDOS, similar to the demon in Narbacular Drop. The game was released on October 10, 2007 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as part of The Orange Box, to critical and commercial success.

Portal prelude was also a good mod for portal:

I couldn't seem to find a purpose to it all. Good Valve story telling by not telling a story but reading it with the events/stashes/quotes going on around you. But no purpose as to why you do the test.
It's a game, stop over-analysing everything and just go with it.

No, I'll over analyse as much as I want... thats the skill in story telling by Valve... it makes you think.

I though the skill in story telling was to entertain, but whatever. You're also seeing a different game to the one that was first released. Valve changed a lot of things and the entire ending prior to announcing Portal 2.

Well, the first Portal was mainly an "experiment" to see how it would go in the market - turns out it was accepted quite well (hence, the sequel which we're promised will be longer). Have you completed all the challenges (ie., aside from the main story)?

Portal 2's currently scheduled for release February 9, 2011.

From (hazy) memory:
  • human
  • yes (we're told her name is "Chell")
  • GLaDOS now runs the show, the fate of the humans being alluded to during the main story
  • listen closely to the lyrics in the song over the closing credits
  • Jonathan Coulton is apparently back with more music for Portal 2

Well, they added the radios for the second (and subsequent?) playthroughs plus added the dragging at the end (which had previously only been alluded to) - nothing fundamental in the game changed (from memory), it was all just part of the marketing effort for Portal 2.

By dragging, do you mean just after you kill glados and you go up to the surface, and you hear something about assuming the party submission pose?

I believe that you are human - a woman - but has some kind of bionic shoes

Yes, exactly; previously the screen faded to black just after you awoke on the surface (whereas in the new ending, "the dragging" has been added) - both old and new endings appear on YouTube (deliberately not linked). Assuming the "party escort submission position" is mentioned during the original main game.
