I don't know if we can still use the DNF jokes.
The licence has changed hands. 3D realms, formerly Apogee software and the creators of the original duke platformers and Duke 3D have sold everything off.
Gearbox (makers of Borderlands, Brother In Arms, Half Life Blue Shift) snapped up the DNF licence (or 2K did) so they're doing their own version of the game. Gearbox have a very solid history of delivering when on acquired IPs (although I'm still waiting on their Aliens game) but none the less I'd gamble my entire savings given even odds that DNF will be released in under 24 months.
