I don't think O2 runs out. I think they can stay in orbit indefinitely, unless you apply the related mod to your game - [0.20] Ioncross Crew Support Plugin v1.10 | Kerbal SpacePort.
haven't tried this, as I have a hard enough time keeping kerbals alive in stock game...

I just installed Mechjeb, but I have no idea how to get it to work.

Much like most of my other KSP experimenting. I managed to get a lander on the Mün but it's almost out of fuel. Tried to repeat to process with other rockets but all have failed.
They keep running out of fuel. Adding another fuel tank also adds weight which causes it to burn more fuel and run out of fuel anyway

yeah, Getting a station happening as a fuel stop on the way to Mun or where ever is important. And MechJeb will help out a lot.
All you have to work out what you want done and at what stage.
open you rocket in VAB, and add a Mechjeb module to your final stage. That will get MJ operational. Launch as usual, then open up the side panel and select Ascent Guidance. Plug in the orbit height and hit engage, then follow your staging as normal. Rendezvous assist is a little bit more involved, but the first thing to do is get quick saves going, once in a stable orbit. That will allow a quick revert when things go pear-shaped.

And just Experiment .

Don't need a station to get to the Mun or Minimus but planning is important. Here's a 15 minute video I just made showing you how to use MechJeb 2 to get to the Mun. Enjoy.

I have tried this with my ship recently, as I wanted to do an Apollo-esque mission, with Command module and LEM (or MEM). Looking at that video, you dont seem to have enough fuel for a return trip.
What I want to do is start from High Kerbin Orbit at the KSS (My station orbiting at 200km) and set up an orbit for the CM and pop on down to the surface in the MEM. Then lift off and link up with CM for a return to the KSS to show off all the Mun rocks they collected. Seems my ships are either too heavy or I've picked the wrong engine (Poodle for the CM main).



Yes, I have a habit of complicating things, but it seems a habit for me lately.

No, I didn't have enough for a return trip. It was late and I couldn't be bothered re-calculating fuel.

Suffice to say, to design a ship that is capable of getting there and coming back in one hop is not too hard.
