Default Steam Launches Trading Cards

Valve have launched Trading Cards (kinda like achievements) for select games (more to follow) including TF2, Portal 2 and HL2.

Collect a set, trade them or cash them in for Hats, wallpapers or discounts...

Read more Here:

Also, apparently they haven't tied them to any achievements yet and you can idle for them in +textmode

Trading Card Beta Expanding - again!
We've just added another 50,000 users from the Steam Trading Group to the beta (in addition to the 10,000 users we added early today).

If you receive an email, there is nothing more you need to do to join, just go to your Badges page to see which games you can earn game cards for. You'll also have 3 more invites in your inventory that you can share with friends.

We'll look to do another expansion of the beta at this same time tomorrow.
So, I have 3 invites, if anyone would like one.
They are tradeable items, so must be a Friend to get one.

Thank You.

What wasn't mentioned was the Market Place where you can spend (or make) money from your Steam wallet.

You can place anything in your inventory up on a "Market Place" that Steam maintains...All transactions use "steam wallet" funds much safer than trading via paypal or trust. Steam takes a very small % of transactions.

I used it today to buy the last few cards I needed to get the full set (2x cards at 50c each).

Money goes straight to your Steam Wallet to buy new games.
