Avatar the game just released, I believe its linked to the movie that is also just/almost released. Has anybody tried it or know much about it? Didn't seem to be showing up in the sales charts which was a bit surprising.

eh, movie games are never good, it's getting pretty bad reviews.

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game (pc) reviews at Metacritic.com

Plus I think the film itself is going to be pretty weak.

I agree chief, reviews of the film i have seen have not inspired me much, cant see how a game based on the movie would be all that interesting.

But this is James Cameron's answer to Star Wars. How can it possibly fail?

I saw a preview of it at the Egames Expo in Melb and they had it in 3D (yeah, with the glasses) which was gimicky but cool. But other than that it looked like a stock standard Halo clone.

Considering rumors the movie is weighing in at close to USD$500 million (that's counting marketing costs and the additional investments from Cameron and others, it's almost double the reported cost of USD$230M), I wonder at the wisdom of releasing a generic, clucky game based in the movie.

Worth a rep point but seems I haven't spread myself far enough lately.
