Question How do you stop receiving invites for games you don't own?

As the title says, if i do not own the game i would rather not get invites from people on my friends list who own the game, kinda pointless even if you were to buy it you still would not be able to join the game in time...

Tell them you don't have it, after a couple times they usually figure it out. Really though it would be better if the client just knew you didn't have the game owned/installed and spared you the bother. I think they keep it though to encourage you to go buy the game 'cause your friends are playing it.

Yeah, Steam needs a 2.0 overhaul for stuff like this. Just complain on the steam forums, they'll no doubt add that feature eventually.

It would also be nice to have a "looking for a game" type status you could set that would auto clear after you launch a game or an hour passes to let people know you're fine with getting invites and so on.

I've also wanted a system to see which people on my friends list have which games. If I can see before even launching a game (say, I select the game and it scrolls out a panel listing all friends online who own the game) I can contact a few and organize a game rather then just starting a game and spamming invites to everyone. With 200 people on my friends list it's impossible to remember who has what.

There is almost a solution for that in the groups list - down below your normal friends list if you've never scrolled that far before. You can see a list of other ppl in the Borderlands group ferinstnce.

Problem is once groups get to be a certain size the list complains and stops working. This is one reason I would like a distinct TOG L4D2 group incidentally ...

Simple!

Slap Drac over the back of the head and say "Stop sending me invites to games I don't have!"

Gabe loves getting feedback from customers doesn't he?

Well there's the steam groups but when they get popular the friends list won't show them anymore. They should let you pop out the larger groups into another display so you can check. That'd cover it pretty much, esp if they had that "LFG" flag.

Just noticed the new icon next to Reoh's name - how apt.
