Default TF2 freeplay weekend and 1/2 price

As the title says - the next 2.5 days its free to play. Its also only $10US for this weekend too.

Ive never played it before, but you cant beat free.

A word from the wise Redgum. If you don't want to have to spend $10, don't play it - you'll be hooked.

If you like it though, seriously consider spending the extra ($20) and buying The Orange Box. The value in that is awesome (even if only for Portal & TF2)*.

Contains:
Half Life 2 Half Life 2: Episode 1 Half Life 2: Episode 2
Half Life 2: Lost Coast Portal Team Fortress 2

* No I'm not on commission, but open to offers Gabe

Aren't you already a Valve forum mod and thus get all their games for free?

I could only recommend buying TF2. The other games in the Orange Box constitute around 20 hours of play time (if you take your time) and you'll more than likely play them once and never fire them up again. Don't get me wrong, Portal is original (it's about 3 hours of play though), and the story depth to Half Life 2 is fairly interesting, but I'd save the 10 bucks and buy a good book if you want a story line and character development. Team Fortress 2, however, will keep you entertained for a very long time, and when you get jack of it, you'll take a bit of a break and come back to it.

If one thing has been proved, it's games that contain a thick plot and many characters that are developed over time provide less entertainment than games that are just good fun to play and contain pretty much no story. Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 are prime examples of this. I mean you don't need a twisted plotline to enjoy a game of poker. It's just fun.
