Unhappy Steam problem...Can't play...ANYTHING!!!.:(

Please help...
Suddenly I can't play ANY of my Steam Games.
I log in and when I try to play I get a message "Steam has found a problem with your local games file....."

I get this message on ALL of my Steam Games.
I have defragged local content, and my entire PC, but still no joy.
When I defragged my PC, I got a message saying some CSS files... "GFC" files could not be defragged.
Has anyone please got any ideas on how to fix this?

Have you tried to verify your Game Cache Files?

Cheers max.
I'll let you know how I go.
I just defragged again, and the only files that won't defrag are "ProgramFiles/STEAM/Steamapps/source sounds.gcf"
This appears to be the problem, but I'm not sure.

Verified cache, and everything okay there....
Still won't defrag.

It's a pretty large file coming in at 975Mb
Mine was modified Dec 26 2009 @ 1am so it's been modified by steam quite recently.

Sometimes you can delete a steam file and steam will re-download. Although I tend to rename rather than delete (just in case).

I assume you had steam turned off during defrag, and even better in safe mode I'm guessing so it isn't in use?
