Default I just played GTA IV for 22.5 hours in one day...

Yesterday I played a bit of GTA IV. This morning I logged on to the steam community and there it said that "PhatFreD is currently playing GTA IV".

Well, I'm pretty sure that I wasn't, but when I checked the status bar I realised that little Rockstar Social club icon. I right-clicked and exited and when refreshing the steam community page it no longer had me as playing GTA IV. So if you don't exit the Rockstar Social club Steam will have you down as playing GTA IV.

So without lifting a finger I have now got a Steam rating of 10. I believe it used to be called Screaming Eagle.

I can't remember the last time I didn't have a steam rating of 10. Is that bad (or maybe it's only a sign of memory loss) ?

Well, I my goal is to only have one dedicated gaming night per week, so getting the 10 rating is pretty exciting for me. I wonder what would happen if I play another game while Rockstar Social club is running...

I've noticed that when you close steam (*note: not minimise), steam doesn't close down.

It stays as a process in the backgrounds, not showing in "applications" but if you check in the files themselves steam.exe is still there and has to be killed before you can re-open it (as it thinks that it is still already running).

Isn't the rating taken from the amount of time actually spent playing games rather than just having steam running ?
I could be wrong.

I didn't meant to say it was affecting the rating.

Just a little weird that when you tell it to close down, it actually doesn't. Not entirely anyway.

It shuts down properly for me more often than not for me, but does sometimes exhibit the behaviour you describe Reoh.

I've also experienced cases where steam gets stuck thinking I'm still playing a game which I'd closed - presumably it hadn't exited cleanly although I couldn't recall (as it had no background processes like GTA IV).

Unless you actually hit File > Exit, you weren't exiting. Hitting the 'X' "closes" Steam to the system tray.
