Dragon Age on Aussie Steam Servers?

Following the huge Xmas sale on Steam there are probably a huge amount of Aussies trying to download their new games. I was looking forward to playing my new Dragon Age, and since I am with Internode I can download quota free from any Australian Steam server mirror.

I was a bit surprised when none of the Australian servers seemed to have it. It is a fairly huge game (24GB) and I can't really use my quota to download this.

Has anyone else been able to download Dragon Age from any Australian servers? Is this just a temporary overload of the Aussie Steam servers relating to the Xmas Steam sale?

In addition I can't download Killing Floor and Greed Corp. I managed to download Mass Effect 2 and F.E.A.R after a lot of tries.

Unfortunately Dragon Age isn't hosted on Aussie content servers; nor do i believe Steam do anything prior to a sale to add content to servers hosted in Australia.

Steam can be great but for mine, your better off importing

Do you have Ultimate Edition? Does it show as such in your Library?

DA:O UE (AppID 47810) is not available.

DA:O (17450) is available on GA public.
Awakening (47730) is on GA public.

The trick to connecting to GA though is to start the download without any filters active. Once it has begun, enable the filter. Then wait ... and wait some more ... and wait some more ...

I do have the Ultimate Edition. I did actually do what you said Jigoku and started the download without filters and then applied the filter. That was two days ago now and still nothing downloaded.

Oh well... maybe it will appear soon.

How did you find out that GA is hosting it Jig? I have been using Wally3K's SteamID lookup, but at the moment it says "not hosted in Australia" no matter which game I check.

Both Wally's and AusGamers lookup tools are currently "broken". They point to the wrong IP address and port. Valve changed them. I sent an email to the AusGamers guys but they have so far ignored it.

I found a tool that you can run locally on the GA forums a long time ago. I recompiled it from the source code with the updated address.

And since you have UE, it won't download with the filter in place. It is a completely separate entity to the original products, like Batman and Batman GOTY ...

That sucks... I guess I will have to try and save up some quota for the end of the month and download it then. It would be 40% of my total monthly quota.

I ended up disabling my filter and downloading it. The game files are greatly compressed though so the 24GB game is only a 13GB download. I backed up the game using the backup function in Steam and the backup file is also only 13GB. Didn't know file compression could be that efficient. Great news for me.
