Default Autoexec

Hi ,
I am running a few Steam accounts and cant seem to work out how to get an Autoexec to stick. I had to disable Steam cloud on my main account because it had saved my rcon binds and I gept getting rcon banned due to these binds.

Its pretty embarrasing cos for years I helped ppl set thier own up.

The autoexec.cfg should be account specific, so as long as you are logged into the correct account you should have the correct autoexec. Each account will have its own settings in the cloud and locally will be under different ...\Steam\steamapps\username\ folders.

Assuming of course you haven't done anything clever like using directory symlinks ...

Are you kidding Jik -Clever not me.

I used to just rename my CFG to "autoexec.cfg" it would then just make a new CFG and the auto would work sweet. I am going account specific and jest can get the "autoexec.cfg" to kick in

I don't know why this would be the case and I don't have multiple accounts to test it for myself.

You do have multiple cs:s cfg folders right?
...\Steam\steamapps\username 1\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg
...\Steam\steamapps\username 2\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg
...\Steam\steamapps\username 3\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg
etc ...

Yes, under the one steamapps folder. If steam cloud is enabled it seems to go back to the bad account settings on my main and defaults on the other accounts.

I have kids Jigo, thats part of the reason for the number of accounts. I think i have to try out the steamcloud getting turned on after I save account settings and see if that binds.

The cfg seems to override the auto ATM.

Shouldn't the real question by why you even have that game installed in the first place

Seriously though, I can't see how this is causing you problems. Delete all the config files from every account and let them be auto-created again and start from there.

Steam Cloud is account independent, it should not be causing any problems either.

LOL good point let alone 3 CSS accounts ....Shhhh plz dont tell.

I think if figured it out but Autoexec still doesnt seem to work , the config does work and if the steam cloud is disabled i dont get the rcon binds back in the cfg after editing the notepad then saving. mouthfull sorry (that was what was happening)

Edit
And FYI ( not that u need it Drac) after enabling Steam cloud the same rcon commands and binds end up in the CFG again. hmm i always find a fickled one

Well i still cant get an auto exec to go but what i did find was that disabling steamcloud in the settings menu doesnt mean its disabled in game
You need to go to options in game and disable it there as well.

I am back on 1 account as i only need 1 now but what i found was all my rcon binds have been saved in the Steam cloud file. Which a s Jiko would understand gets you banned if the wrong key is bound

Since an autoexec doesnt fix anything is there a way to change waht Steamcloud has stored?
The binds I had for rcon are no longr usefull but Steam cloud could be .

SteamCloud can be a tricky thing to wipe, but try this.

Disable SteamCloud for the game (right click > properties > updates > untick SteamCloud)
Modify your config files. This should mean the ones on your computer are newer than those in the cloud.
Start the game, confirm new config is being used, exit.
Re-enable Cloud.
Start game.

Hopefully it will tell you the local and cloud files differ and ask you which ones you want to keep.

Hopefully ...
