Steam games Updates

Gidday all,

Just reformatted and installed steam,its updating my Black Ops multiplay at 21 kb a sec . My question being what is the fastest connection that can be used for game update was using Telstra NSW.

In theory the Steam content update will use up as much bandwidth as you allow it to use (I can't recall if the "approx connection speed" in the Steam client settings acts as a throttling mechanism or not) - in reality, however, it relies on the ability of the Steam content server(s) to send you information fast enough and sometimes... well, sometimes they're just dog slow.

Setting your download location/region is more of a suggestion to the Steam client - there is no guarantee (unless you are using some external/third-party blocking mechanism) that it will only download from the specified location, so it's entirely possible to be downloading content from the other side of the world.
