help with changing steam email - if email is banned

hai

friend of mine is having some Steam problems,,
their email that they used for steam was banned,, and their having trouble changing their steam email to a new one...
steam is telling them to check their old steam email for it to change to the new one...

ive tried it with mine and it worked no probs, so weather its because their email is banned...

any ideas?

- they've tried sending a support ticket to steam to change it for them
- tried resetting their email password
- tried pretty much everything

they had a live email address, and hotmail banned it... i know a few people thats happened to.. but the email they used is their steam email, and they cant change it to another one, it keeps telling them to check their old email addy

They will need to contact Steam Support. If they sent the ticket they would have received an automated reply. If not they didn't submit it properly. They may also check the My Questions section on the support site after they have logged in.

ok thanks jig, will get them to lodge another as they said they didnt get an automated reply...

i know its to do with the new code system... but my old steam account had bikkies email (unverified) and i changed it to my email with no problems... didnt have to check the old email, just had to click a link in new email

You MUST verify your email account........otherwise other people than you can hack in and change the email address.

i got them to do another support ticket.. and recieved the automated email.

and now their laptop has died, and taking it to be fixed.. and unable to log into steam on another machine due to the checking the code in the email they cant access...

they were finallly able to get into their email, think someone had got it banned, and it sent a code via sms :/
