Default If you are into astronomy

I'm quite a fan of astronomy so I picked this up on Steam.

Save 10% on Universe Sandbox on Steam

The stuff you can do is really good fun, lets add a sun to our solar system or put Jupiter near the earth, double the mass of the moon, the possibilities are kinda endless.

So if you have any fascination with space type stuff this is very entertaining and educational at the same time!

Yes me and my wife were having a blast also on it as she is a fan also of astronomy.

We played around with making what if Jupiter was an actual star. Very interesting how it became attracted to the sun and started orbiting each other.

A few planets got thrown out of the solar system like Mercury and Venus. Alot more can be done in this besides what I have mentioned.Very amusing and I also highly recommend this simulation tool.

Nice find. Picked it up. Currently reading "A short history of nearly everything" which talks about the history of scientists over the years, in all the main disciplines, including astronomy, geology, mathematics, physics, chemistry etc. Good read, and makes you realise just how little we know about our own world, and how much is just theories, many of which proved incorrect later on.

Great little program, considering the scale of physics involved. Cranking up some sliders, especially involving dust tends to render a slide show on my machine, but on current gaming rigs, it should fly.
Not since Celestia have I seen such nice visuals. A brilliant educational tool for physics teachers as well.

Forgot to mention, I played around with some Community generated simulations of extra solar planets, and surprisingly, a couple of these planets' orbits entered (albeit briefly) the habitable zones of the host star. This feature - habitable zone - is going to give a great visual tool on determining potential H-congruous moons of gas giants, of which there seems to be hundreds now found. Very cool.

Can you have a black hole drift into the solar system? that would be cool.

When I saw it had steam achievements I figured that would definitely be one of them, alas they're rather lacking in creativity, although admitedly there are a couple there which don't have descriptions.

You can add black holes but they are not under add objects, you can change an existing body to a BH by using the properties on the right, dunno which one top of my head.

Haven't done much with it but when I tried it the BH was the size of the solar system basically, 167 million suns or something. So yeah the concept sounds like a lot of fun but doesn't seem to be quite practical, need a mini bh
