Fine
Default Free to play arrives on Steam

Steam have added 5 free-to-play MMOs to their line up:
Alliance of Valiant Arms
Champions Online - free for all
Global Agenda: free agent
Forsaken World
Spiral Knights
Free to Play games on Steam

Ive played all of those in the past except Forsaken World, which looks to be a more traditional fantasy based game. It was nice to see AvA arrive, Ive been playing it for about a year through the ijji launcher, and now I can have it through steam . Spiral Knights is fun so far as well. Im interested to know peoples thoughts on Forsaken world, and if its worth a download.

Tried it last night...Not sure it's even pretty enough to hold my attention for too long.

Champions Online - free for all
Tried it previously - didn't take to the visual styling or sharding arrangement.

Spiral Knights

Tried it over the weekend as a few people had recommended it - got my free TF2 hat, but it's not likely to get played any further. Far too many games I enjoy more.

Thermal if you disable the outlines in Champions it looks like any other game. Well, except for all the grown men wearing tights.

Some old screenshots of my character from when I use to play it:

The rest of the game however... Well, I've a lot of steam games and eventually it clicked why I didn't like MMOs. I was essentially paying money to grind and waste my time so that I could eventually have an experience that was close to, but never as good as, some other 16/32 player game I already owned.

I actually blame Minecraft, I mean MMOs sprang from text MUDs and MOOs where it was just as much about the building and creating as it was about the playing. When I saw how simple Minecraft was yet how much better that made the experience - a handful of people was all you needed, no waiting, instant yet deep experience. Then I got to thinking about it in terms of how well single player RPGs tell stories and how well action games do, well, action and how well RTS games let you play the general (eff you pet class!) MMOs have all just looked like pale fat leeches to me every since.

The enjoyment I got from playing WoW, the MMO I put the most time into (far too much at one point), really centered around the social aspect within the guild I was in and the other players I quested and chatted with on Venty - not so much the actual game itself.

Since joining TOG, that aspect of my gaming gets satisfied here with games that don't need the same time commitment to progress, and as such I've not found the real pull to get back into an MMO, even one's I have lifetime subscriptions too (won't make that mistake again).

*That said, I think I've spent more on Steam games than I would of if I'd stuck with a WoW subscription

Playing CO again since it hit steam. I couldn't really get into it the first time around, 2nd time around having a friend in game and a character concept to RP (mentally, don't go around RPing in game) I'm enjoying it a bit, also with the FTP model, I'll play while it's fun and stop if it isn't, no pressure to get your money's worth. These day's I don't care if a game is called an MMO, or whatever, to me it's only about content, like reading a book or watching a movie. Once I'm done with it, on I know it's going on a shelf, makes you wary of buying expenisve games.

Champions is a great game just it suffered from lack of content, i think i ended up with around 6 max level characters before i got bored We had a good laugh with the toggers there though while it lasted.

I didn't like it and will be deleting it soon. You might be able to remap the key but it's the camera view I can't get away with. For example, most MMO's the camera is behind you at all times but not with FW, if you turn the camera view stays static so you've got to move it yourself.
