Just a quick note that the steam client is being adjusted to support better downloading and more publisher options, along with a revelation (last paragraph) that DOTA 2 is otw. *It also includes the previously mentioned "smaller download file updates" as opposed to redownloading of entire files.

This sounds good. Steam needed a downloads overhaul.

Valve says, "Out later this year!"

It'll also be at Gamescon in Cologne, Germany; with a $1mil prize tournament at the same venue later on.

It'll probably launch with a November/Xmas release. Pre November is crowded with a lot of other big releases, although perhaps they might spam the hell out of DOTA2 on Steam the day BF3 releases just so the Steam employees have something to do that day (other than install Origin so they too can get BF3).

Looks nice. Never played DOTA or any game like it before, but seeing as Valve are behind this I'll probably jump in for a spell.

I like the gameplay of DOTA and it's clones but the communities are horrible. So if DOTA2 gets a decent following here and we can have tog vs tog games it'll be brilliant.
