Tired
Default UK users and Steam games

So, it looks like someone (the rumours say Game UK) is throwing a spanner in the works of UK gamers wishing to use Steam, leading to several games (such as the new Space Marine game) not being available through steam in the UK. I would really like to know exactly who is at the bottom of it, because frankly, it sucks.

Don't worry. I got an email from them to let me know that the game was shipped in the last 24 hours and I should receive it in 4 to 12 days. The email was dated 9/9/11

I hope I'm not disappointed because I thought the demo was crap.

According to a report over on RPS: Space Marine’s Mysterious Steam UK Absence | Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Quote:
In the meantime, if you acquire the PC version of the game from anywhere else, rest assured you can still activate and play it on Steam despite it being invisible on the store. This includes Direct2Drive and Gamersgate for £35 each, but retailer ShopTo.net is selling the Steam activation code directly for an eminently reasonable £23.

I find it hard to believe that Game have any interest in PC games at all, whenever you go in one of their shops the very poor range of overpriced PC games are always shoved in a little section at the back like some dirty secret, all they need to do is make you go through a beaded curtain and have some sleazy music playing and the image would be complete.

Their online shops are a different story though, I've bought from them in the past myself, the last game I ordered (BFBC2) was 25% cheaper than on Steam at release.

Steam don't really offer much competition when it comes to prices of new releases in the UK anyway as non valve games will typically be between 15 to 25% more expensive than online retail prices for new releases, only last week I picked up the new Deus Ex game online for £22 instead of £29 on Steam.
