For those looking to upgrade or connect a portable device to their PS3's
![]() I for one an very interested how this product will sell / be supported. Now that there is no UMD and all games are downloaded what will be the fall out here in Australia (or other regions?) 1) Will retailers back this as they don't usually make a lot of money on hardware. 2) In countries where download limits are ... well limited ... will people want to buy this unit or see it more as a tease? ![]() 3) Will people upgrade if they have a back catalog of UMD's SONY have gone out on a limb here with what they believe the future of gaming will be (especially in terms of distribution). In your opinion will it work? I do like the fact this new PSP has bluetooth though! IGN: IGN's PSPgo FAQ Last edited by Pure Mongrel; 30th August 2009 at 08:12 AM. |

I think this is squarely aimed at the black market/pirating situation on PSP's.
If the device is not hackable and they only provide the games by download then it's pretty much impossible for pirate's to succeed but in saying that what about the game developers. Are the game developers prepared to restrict their sales of games.? As mentioned the games will require downloading but not all countries have fantastic fast broadband setups. Your download quota will have to be pretty big. Some games start at around 300MB but the big games are like 1.3GB in size. They could be doing more harm then good adopting this.

I hope not. Call me nostalgic, but I love the collection of boxes, manuals and artwork etc that comes with a physical game purchase.

I think it's on the way out.
We can already purchase games online and download to computers, consoles and soon handhelds. Take for instance a number of games released on PC which don't come with instructions or even OS which doesn't come with instructions. Build in tutorials appear to be the norm.
