New Info on Pipes and the new FTB Mindcrack system

Pipes now go BOOM! I have had golden conductive pipes vanish, it now appears that as I watch, the power builds builds then no more pipes.

so be careful items and power in excess will kill your pipes.

Cheap upside-down quarry:

Needed:
1x Filler
1x Transposer (or obsidian pipe)
1x Engine for filler
Tubes/pipes/chests for storage

This quarry will work from the bottom up, so you first have to dig down to bedrock.

Once there dig one ditch that is 13 blocks long with 2 block digged inwards in the middle of the ditch and the transposer fitted there. The idea is that if you put water in the ends of the ditch it will run into the transposer.

The next step is to dig out the quarry bottom. You can use the filler as help for this. You want to have it as wide as the initial ditch, and then any depth really, though you want it all to be covered in running water which will transport any items dropped on the bottom to the first ditch, which will then take it to be sucked up by the transposer.

Finally you set up the filler area to exactly cover the bottom and then any height you want, up to the surface even. Though the best goodies will be aquired in the initial levels. Set the filler to a clear pattern so it clears out everything, and then connect the engine to it and start!

This is a quite quick quarry, and pretty cheap to build, the worst cost is 8 gold for the filler. It also tends to bunch the dropped items together, at least the cobble so you won't have that much items flowing around in your tubes which is good.

Although I would think this particular quarry might not be super appreciated on this server due to the high number of drops it produces (although they are all sucked into our system pretty quickly) and all that running water. It won't keep any chunks loaded which might be appreciated, but that instead means you have to babysit it if it is to work.

I leave it up to the admins to decide if this is acceptable or not, but in any case it's a great way to mine efficiently early on in your single player games

Since we don't allow running water in quarries, it would break current quarry rules.

However, since this would be running water only at bedrock level (unlike some quarries that were filled), it would be less laggy than a top-down quarry with running water in it - so I'll bring it up for discussion with the admin team. We'll get back to you

If you don't handle the item pickup well, it will leave masses of items on the ground creating lag. Just FYI.

Also: The filler has no MJ per tick cap. I've provided one with 100 MJ/tick to clear a redwood. I logged the entire tree in around a second. Do NOT do this with large areas of anything as when I upscaled it, it killed my server hard with that many items falling to the ground (and that was just a large patch of trees and a little dirt, not a large quarry-sized area of solid rock)

Yes, the conductive pipes can explode if provided with more power than is consumed. Items don't have the same effect. If you overload a pipe with items, they'll just fall out.

k been doing some testing on this pipe thing
1 yes the gold / stone conductive pipes will blow if the power is not being taken from it fast anuf

2 the transport pipes will not go boom BUT if you have a loop and it be comes to congested the itoms in the loop seam to go boom but do not hurt the pipe

3 with the mindcrack gold pipes seam to have changed as 1 pipe only speeds it up a little but if you put say 5 in a row you get good speed and it will travel about 20 pipes after be for loosing speed ALSO redstone dose nothing to gold tranpsort pipes

the test ground, all the mats where put strait in the the loop and it took heaps to get it to start poping , id also say to never build somthing like this on the server

Default Installing additional FTB Mods using the launcher

(Just putting this here in case anyone needs it)

Installing additional FTB Mods using the launcher
There is another way to install additional FTB mods, other than the way shown in the first post (Saving them to the "instMods" folder). While the other method is quicker, you can use this method if you prefer.

In the launcher, click on the "Edit Mod Pack"

Then click the "Add Mod" button

Find the mod you've downloaded, and click "open"

It should now be in the "enabled mods" list - which means it will be loaded with the other mods when you launch.

Mistakes to Avoid - Technic Pack Wiki

This is for Technic, but most of it applies to us as well, so it's good reading.

thats a dman good link, but some is a little flawed.

Smelting all your sticky resin in a furnace - Once you get an Extractor, you can get three Rubber balls per resin instead of one. You can also throw in your rubber logs (both from IC2 rubber trees and RedPower's rubberwood trees) and rubber saplings for 1 rubber ball each. You're going to need that rubber.
An Industrial Centrifuge will give you 20 odd rubber from 8 resin, so thats the next strep up from furnice.

also the thaumcraft and ee posts do not apply (they are for wrong versions r not included) for Thaumcraft, alot changed between 2 and 3, I suggest using the confusing wiki
