Hey Everyone

I am creating a separate thread here for everyone to list what mods they would like to see stay, and what they would like to see go, and aslo what mods they want dialed down, ie GregTech wants Diamonds for Macerators, this can be changed.

This thread is not for discussing Mindcrack, that can be done in the existing Mindcrack thread, here people will express thier views liek I have, no need to explain and no need to comment on others views.

I would ask people list mods that they think effect gameplay opposed to just mods they won't use. i.e. I doubt I will use computer craft, but that does not mean I think it should be removed cause I think it fits in well and others will enjoy. likewise the magic stuff. But Mods like Factorisation seems to be out of step, it's less developed than other mods, adds nothing that the others do, and unlike most of the thers will not interact with Industrial Craft, Buildcraft or Redpower (so you have to use water buckets opposed to pipes).

I would say remove MFFS, I don't know if anyone has used it and from what I read it's very easy to misuse due to some things being very powerful, destructive and potentially lag inducing. And as dewey said, the "shiny" ores, and also aluminum, I have no idea what any of those are used for. Aluminum can't even be used for things that require aluminum as it seems to be different things.

Also add teleport pipes (advanced pipes?) but if Ender Storage works then that can be used as well, so in that case it's not as important.

XyCraft is horrible.

MFFS is great for a spawn power generator, a capacitor with an admin card equals free power, but it should definitely go, a fully upgraded projector with a camouflage mod will nuke a server.

I don't know what a lot of the mods to do be honest... so I'll list ones I want to ditch and reasons why I think we should keep ones someone else says to ditch

I'd like to keep:
Inventory tweaks, as it replaces broken tools with any replacements in the inventory which I find *very useful*!


I'd like to remove:
Soul Shards - seems they are only useful for creating spawners for any mobs you've battled and collected souls for. If that's the mod that adds a few pages worth of "essences", that's annoying too.... but I don't think people need (and as a mod I'm not sure I like the idea of) spawn cages for multiple mobs you're not normally able to get.

xycraft - that's the one with those stupid glowing ores (which you can see through the world as chunks load, which I really hate). Seems the only benefit it has is making decorative blocks from those ores.

MFFS - Looking up on that, it seems to add forcefields. I don't think people forcefielding their stuff is in the spirit of what our servers are about. I can definitely see the ability for that to be misused/abused.

ChickenChunks - This is a chunk loader (like the world anchor) which we're not allowing players to use anyway - so is not needed.


Unsure:
VoxelMenu - That's the one that changes the main menu which I don't like, but I guess I can get used to it

Factorization - reading the wiki, it is the one that includes barrels - which I love and I know other people do too. While I don't know about the other things it provides, unless they are a big negative (or we can keep barrels and nothing else from that pack), I think the barrel storage is a very good thing to have, so would like to keep that mod.

Thaumcraft 3 - That adds those brainy zombies, those glowing things, wisps and magic stuff. I'm not a fan of it.

Gregtech - it was apparently included in FTB pack, but if this one is different, I'd be happy to make changes to bring it back in line with what it was in the FTB pack (if we can do that)... it appears it adds in the sapphires and stuff - I don't think we need to be able to make sapphire swords and stuff - it's just adding complexity and extra stuff for no real benefit. However, it does have machines that we have used (matter fabricator etc.)

Not sure which mod it is a part of, but I do like the extra Golems.

Having just looked on some youtube vids about thaumcraft I think it seems like a pretty cool mod. The wisps and such should only appear if you use magic irresponsibly and thereby charge the atmosphere with negative energy. It all seemed pretty complex, but cool. Especially the small golem helpers were awesome

If Xycraft is the one with the shiny ores that show up while the world is loading ,definitely in favor of nuking that one. With nukes. Adios. Although it was shiny over at irimar's, the loading and the texture need a ton of work.

As for the wisps etc... well, the little "adventure" Akira and I had made for some fun times, so I'm ok with keeping them actually. Go figure. That and the idea of potentially altering the local environment based on deeds/misdeeds sounds kinda neatish.


Keep for sure: inventory tweaks. We've had this argument before during the vanilla days and ironically, I now see Obsi in favor of it (for the same reasons of being against it originally... lol? )

That's the one. I'm curious, though. More than one person has made reference to it showing up 'while the world is loading'. What do you mean? I haven't seen anything like this, I don't think.

Dislike: XYcraft, funky menu, gregtech in Mindcrack (liked it in original FTB)
Would like to see: Telporter pipes (?Advance pipes)
Indifferent: Portal gun (it's too buggy to use but makes for cool decoration), MFFS (never used it)

Same here I have never had it show either. I think it must be client local load lag, not sure.

Xycraft also brings in new torches, and some new ores like the Aluminum ore. Which does not appear to be compatible with the aluminum of the normal IC.

I do like the blocks those crystals make and the torches, but its no big deal to lose I suppose.

Some of the gregtech stuff I would like to see stay, but some should prob go. It can be set server specific. I did feel mining lasers were too cheap before, and the new quarry price makes them a later game item which will help with their lag etc.
