What do you think is better EU or MJ? Powering pipes im probably going to use redpower engines since one item at a time is currently fine, but in terms of machinery, what are you finding is the best way of powering it??

I'd say EU is the easiest system to have as a base. If you need MJ, you simply hook an electric engine onto the power system and you're ready to go.

I started with EU, and the reality seems to be that is the easiest to store once generated to give you a reliable output. As Daed said above it is easy to convert to MJ with an electrical engine which you can play with to give you the output efficiency you wish.

Yeah, looking at getting into setting up some solar/wind/water farms to produce constant energy without having to worry about fuel

Probably going to go for the water tower since wind is affected by other blocks and solar requires the sun. I have a hole under my workshop that would make a nice water tower.. ..think the dimensions are perfect..

..of course courtesy of Gregtech this should take a while...

Is there something besides the water mill to do this with? The water mill's EU/t output is horrible.

Linking to the other thread i post re: nikolite/blutricity i could build a heap of solar panels and convert this energy to MJ using a blulectric engineas you suggested... ...this might be more efficient.

I would still have a great big hole under my workshop though

The best option is charcole in a generator. If you want more juice turn charcole to coke then nto generato.ri

Redpower also has windmills for energy generation. Apparently they produce quite a lot of energy. They use a kinetic engine as a base.

Dont windmills have restrictions on placing other blocks near them though? There are some high patches near my plot - could make a goo wind farm!!

I still have a big hole in the ground though, either im going to use it to store lava or make a water tower for the fun of it

On a side note a couple of questions on electric furnaces
1. Do any input pipes have to be on a particular side?
2. Why cant generators get power from lava
