Community use animal farm

I've created an animal farm for myself, which everyone is welcome to use.

There's a linkbook in Spawn (next to the twilight portal) and the wastelands for it.

You'll find pens for each colour of sheep, cows, pigs, deer and chickens (working on getting more chickens). Feel free to shear any sheep - but please do not breed any more sheep!

The cows/deer/pigs are for food, please do breed more of these before you kill any - to keep the numbers the same. Please don't breed heaps of them though - we don't want too much lag :D

In exchange for using the animal farm, it would be appreciated if you could shear all the sheep and put any wool you don't need in the barrels above the pens.

There is an unfriendly wisp in the area (which is why I abandoned the place originally), but I've enclosed it all, so you shouldn't have a problem. You'll also find a cobblestone hut thing off one corner - that leads to a stronghold my quarry uncovered, but has not yet been explored. Feel free to go check that out if you wish.

Q: How do we go about breeding a little 'un and carting off said little 'un to our own farms? :P

As per shearing, you could make the whole thing automatic :)

I liked the caged vs free range eggs. The caged egg idea is actually brilliant. Nice use of pipes

I'd prefer it if you didn't....

The idea of a community use farm means that we don't have to have tons of animals around for everyone to have their own personal supply. So if you can use this one, it's less animals that need to be kept.

But to breed one and try to take one out of the pens, without letting the others out - is a pain.... so I'd rather not have loose animals roaming around in there because people have tried to take some out to keep them... Also I've found that breeding the rams sometimes has mixed offspring. I think it's because the pens are close... so if you breed the rams it will mix the colours, which I'd rather not have.

If you want your own animals.... you might have to do what I did to capture the Rams/Deer and get them there - and that was to find some in the wild, push them into a myst portal to get them to where I wanted them :)

For those who just need white wool, I recommend farming flax. It will produce a lot of string which you can craft into a wool block. I have a lot of flax seeds in my spawn base if anyone needs it.

Oki Obsi, good explanation.

Is my panda excluded? =^.^= :D

:) pets are different, I just mean that if 10 people are all keeping 20 sheep - that's 200 sheep.... if 5 people kept 10 sheep and the other 5 people share those sheep too, then that's halving the amount of sheep needed.

So if we can share animals, the server is better off.

There's a linkbook to spawn in the little hut at the farm, feel free to add a linkbook to your house if that makes it more convenient for you to use (but label it with your name or else we might get several "home" books and confuse everyone :D)

Especially since we've got Mo pets to keep now too, which increases the amount of entities on the server.
