Default Nikolite/Blutricity

Hi guys,

I have a heap of Nikolite that i am currently not using, so either i am going to trade it for something i need or look into generating power with blutricity...

I am interested in who uses blutricity and is there any way of converting the energy to MJ/EU?

If you can swing the resources, you can feed a blulectric engine to generate MJ. I don't know of any way to turn it into EU.

You do need blutricity to power things like sorters an retrievers if you're using the RP2 piping system.

I have a rather nice sorting system going. Not super impressive, but it works. Yay ender chests and pouches and teleport pipes.... Hit me up and I'll show it to ya.

And I believe that Irimar is correct in that some of it can convert to NJ, but there is no conversion to EU.

Just a shame that the butricity recipies are just as complex though

Aren't there generators that convert MJ to EU? That way you could do it in a two step process

Edit: Bio Generators apparently make some sort of conversion: http://forestry.sengir.net/wiki.new/...nergy:biopower

Although it looks like they require a type of fuel as well.

Well, yes. Technically you could feed a geothermal generator with a magma crucible. However, if you were to look closely at what the conversion rates in both directions are, you'll find that it's a very poor way to make the conversion in the MJ->EU direction. If you were to run the magma crucible off of an electric engine, it takes almost twice as much EU in as it puts out. Still, if you're generating MJ with blutricity, you can create EU that way.

Hm... didn't know there existed such a thing as the magma crucible. That means you can easily get almost unlimited energy for free!

Simply build an igneous extruder that creates cobblestone, feed it into the magma crucible and use the created lava to feed either a magmatic engine (to get MJ) or a geothermal generator (to get EU).

Why even bother with solar panels in that case

Because the magma crucible is not efficient. It takes 30 MJ/t and needs a total of 24,000 MJ to convert 1 cobblestone into the equivalent of 1 bucket of lava. The Thermal Generator only puts out 24 EU/t, and the Geothermal's output is 20 EU/t. You get 20,000-30,000 EU per cobble, depending on which generator you're using, but the rate of output is poor.

EDIT:Also, if you were using an electrical engine, it would take you 60,000 EU to convert that cobble to lava with the upgrades installed for the most efficient engine output.

Ah I didn't know the crucible required that much energy to operate. Solar panels are probably to prefer in that case.
