Default New to MindCrack, few questions:

Hey all,

I am new the the modding world completely, and never played "Mindcrack", but it sounds very exciting and I am going to start tonight.

I placed a sign on the empty land spot between Nastafar and Misnik, but I crashed out before I could check every corner to make sure the land is not taken by someone else. From the minimap, I could not see any lights or anything on this land. It looks like most plots are taken, so I hope to find an empty one.

Can we mine directly below our plot as deep as we want? Are the plots our personal land, not just on the surface, but below?

All of the posts and info are extremely overwhelming and I am sure I will slowly learn all the new recipes and such. Is the base game still just Minecraft as I know it? All the original recipes and crafting are still there?

Are there any height restrictions on our plots?

Thanks!

Yes you can mine to bedrock on your plot of land, as it is your land.

Hi dday_0612!

Dont be daunted by it all, i am still new myself (only a few weeks playing minecraft altogether..) and am slowly picking it up bit by bit.. ..but its pretty fun learning how to make everything and set stuff up!!

..when your in game, if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask, from my experience all the guys have been really helpful providing information and helping out here and there.

As far as i know most standard recipies are still the same but i think there are some variations - i know that creating rails is no longer straightforward...

This is the map that shows where everyone's plot is.

Yeah, the base game is still the same, but as WhiteBear mentioned, the method of crafting certain items is different. The one I've encountered so far is that glowstone is still 4 glowstone dust, but must be crafted in a compressor rather than a crafting table.

I've been on the FTB server since just before it went to Mindcrack, and I've only now gotten up to low end machines. You can certainly learn the new stuff at your own pace. Most of the machines I've built need restone and/or diamonds, so it took me a bit to gather enough resources to get started. The good news is that there are a few full shops on the server whose owners make them available to anyone who needs them, so you don't need all of the high end machines at first.

Step 1: Get yourself set up like you normally would on vanilla. Food, tools, weapons, that kind of stuff. Save your ores and ask to use someone's macerator or pulverizer. You'll be grateful (doubles your return, 2 dust for 1 ore which you then smelt. Can be done in the normal furnace.)

Step 2: Find yourself a rubber tree, or ask around if anyone has spare saplings. For reference, the leaves are a lighter color than the trunk (wood looks dark like oak, but the leaves are more like birch.)

Step 3: Those trees will have yellow patches on them. You'll need a tree tap (crafted with normal wood planks). Save the sticky resin; ask to use someone's extractor (three to one conversion). Don't chop the tree!

Step 4: Your mind is the limit.

Enjoy!

I have 6 trees in my plantation, i think there are some just south of spawn too.

i am happy for people to harvest the trees while i am not online.. ..i am going to put up a community chest just at the entrance for anyone to share..

Easiest way to notice those rubber trees is that they have a tall leaf bit poking up from the top of the tree.
