Default Mindcrack: Excessive Rain

Hi,

I have been noticing of late that the weather seems to be raining more often than not. Let me clarify that we are not using Magic, bees or any other weather changing device.

Tonight I noticed that after I stopped the rain using a charge it started to rain immediately again.

I am trying to breed certain bees and they do not work in the rain. I am not adverse to the rain, but when it is consistently happening for 4-8 in game minecraft days, it becomes more than annoying.

Can we get this checked in to?

Thanks

This has been commented on many, many, MANY times, dating back to the FTB Beta A incarnation of the server. Yes, it's quite annoying, and until I was able to get to the advanced solar panels, it was hampering my power generation.

Any lag affects the game time. Hence, a short downpour will seem longer than it actually is in-game. That may play a part in what you are experiencing.

From memory, there is no choice on the rain:clear ratio. There is a way to keep it clear weather for x seconds, but for that to be active all the time, we would have to set up a system that automatically repeated the command every now and then.

Personally, a bit of rain doesn't hurt anyone. Players have the option of using the BetterSound (see TOG Minecraft Server Code of Conduct) client mod to lessen the sound of the rain.

I have no issue with rain at all, I do have an issue with 3 in game day night cycles of rain. It is easy to tell if someone is using a rainmaker because as soon as I shoot up a charge to clear the rain it immediately begins again.

I have looked into the fact of using charges to clear the rain to see if it stacks on how long it takes to clear further rainfalls and there is no effect. Someone is using a rainmaker or magic excessively to generate rain. There are bees called 'Excitable Bees' that can also cause issues with rain. I am not sure of why you would want to generate excessive rain unless you were hoping to get a Lightening Rod hit. If that was the case then only the rainmaker will cause that effect, bees and magic do not.

Trolling is the only logical answer I can see. It also happened again today where I cleared the rain 3 times and 3 times in a row it started again.

I would expect inexperience rather than trolling, but yeah someone in your vicinity probably has a bee or something that is causing this. Try walking around and having a look. It's very likely they don't even understand they are doing it, like the case with the lightning bee in spawn city.

If it was bee related, would it rain for the whole server, or just locally? or would it just produce the thunder/lightning without rain that we had when we discovered the excitable bees?

I have noticed that recently (over the last week or so) it seems to be raining an enormous amount of time
