Default Some Mindcrack tips/help

Hey all,

Thanks for the warm welcome so far and tips! I am very overwhelmed with everything I need to learn. I have spent some time on the wiki as well as tried some things in game, but I have a few things I would like to get some input on. Maybe a really simple breakdown of what I need to do:

1. With no teleports, I am interested in learning how to use the book system. I failed last night trying it and didn't seem to get a lot of info on the FTB wiki. I am hoping to place a teleport book in the caverns down deep where I have mined a little that will take me back to my home. What do I need to accomplish this? I failed when trying this last night.

2. Very noob question: How do I enchant a diamond pick to improve my mining?

3. After studying, it seems that a macerator would be best to start with, other than a pulverizer. After reviewing ingredients, it seems that the macerator may be easier for me to craft. I can then get started on stocking up ore. Can anyone give me confirmation on this or some hints/tips about the basic start of using machines such as these.

4. I would love a short list of beginner items (like the macerator above) that I should concentrate on gathering the material for and making. There are so many things to create, I am overwhelmed and don't know where to start. Maybe a few items that would be best to concentrate on first as I learn?

Thanks!

1. Get your hands on a book, on the spot you want to teleport to (a useful tip i got from Bru is to place a block identify that spot so you dont build on it) put the book in the 2x2 crafting slot in your inventory and then take out the green shiny book it creates. This sets up the link. The next step is to go to the spawn building and use the book link thingy under the brewing machine and select 'intra linking' and 'following' and name your book. Voila!! A full post on it by Obsi is here: Beginner's Guide to the TOG FTB/MindCrack Server

2. There is an enchanting table in the spawn building

Check the beginner's guide as the post and people's comments have a lot of good info for people new to FTB

#2 - You basically want to get to 30xp, then take whatever you want to enchant to the enchanting table at Spawn - click the enchanting table and place your item in the slot. You'll see 3 options on the side, which will have the XP it costs to enchant - you won't be able to read what it says - it's designed to be mysterious.

It's usually best to pick the highest level, so just click that one and it will enchant the item. It's luck of the draw which enchantments you get. So some people prefer to enchant a book instead of a tool, that way if it's an enchantment you didn't really want, you've not wasted a tool, and you can later use the enchanted books with a tool on the anvil (also at spawn, along the wall a bit) to put the enchantments you want onto your tools.

3/4). It really depends on what your aims are and how much you want to do yourself vs using other people's machines. But I think a macerator/pulveriser, compressor, power-making-machine (I prefer solar) and furnaces are your main ones to get started. Add a rolling machine if you can (to make the combined alloy plates (or whatever they are called) as it's not that hard to make.

Another good one is the extractor - it lets you get more rubber from the resin, also when you get cells you don't want as byproducts in other machines (eg hydrogen cells), it lets you take out the stuff in the cells to get the empty cells back again.

3. I don't know if I would agree a macerator is easier to build than a pulverizer. The pulverizer doesn't need diamonds, which the macerator does. It also uses lower level items through the entire process, is easier to hook into other machines and has a chance to produce "bonus" items. If you have lava available you can power it directly using a magmatic engine (or a normal stirling engine if you have coal).
