Default Mindcrack: White Bears tree plantation

Just for fun i have decided to start up a tree plantation for community use, its not entirely ready yet, a few more things i need to do to get it fully set up, but hopefully will get it semi automated in the near future.. ..i know alot of people dont need wood for energy sources e.g. charcoal, but what the heck right??

What it will have;

  • Currently planted for FIR and SPRUCE - more to come
  • Furnaces and workshop for creating charcoal and smelting items
  • Chests for storing sticks, wood and produced items - for community access
  • Workbenches for on site crafting
I will need to put down some more signs etc, but general rules to start with (until such time its automated) would be;

  • replant any removed trees - to keep the wood growing!
  • do not steal from furnaces (can place sign to say if it is in use)
  • Do not damage fences or any part of the property including removing torches

More to come! I will edit as it get developed. Screenshots up soon.. ..and if there is any particular wood in demand, can look into growing this.

Cheers

WB

That is why we ask people to minimise how many they chop down from their natural surroundings. They are best to use where you find them, rather than chopping them down.

Perhaps if i can get my hands on some saplings i can grown some of these for community use?? Are we referring to silverwood though?? Not sure i want to mess with Silverwood from what i have read and the current state of flux in the city......

I think i am going to hunt down some birch since they are relatively rare.. ..also like to plant one or two redwoods if they will grow in my biome, 2/3 of the area for the farm is snow so its great for fir and spruce grows quite well.

Yeah Fir, Birch and Redwood would be sweet. Now i just need to construct a few loggers and something to place the saplings and renewable source of charcoal here we come!

Yes, I am talking about Silverwood. Unlike other trees, it is possible that you get no saplings from a silverwood tree. Therefore, you potentially are harvesting at a loss.

There are also all the autumn trees. If you haven't already, I recommend you harvest them if you want a good spread of leaf colours. If you have patience, you can also set up beehives and breed mutations to get new trees that you won't find in the wild, with new leaves and trunks.

Just started growing silver birch and rubber. Currently have only planted 2 silver birch, but will eventually expand this to approximately 15.

Also have 9 rubber trees at the entrance, again i hope to double this number. I would ask if any does decide to drop by and use the rubber trees, dont try and tap them unless they have resin showing otherwise they will eventually stop producing resin!!

Is there anyway to send a redstone signal when a block in empty? e.g. Block removed, signal gets sent to deployer to plant sapling?
