Default Cool Mod suggestion: Bibliocraft

Guys,

Came across this mod while trying to find something to do while the mindcrack server is unavailable.

It looks quite cool. What do you think?

BiblioCraft

Summary: It adds a number of storage/display blocks - desks you can put books on, bookcase for holding books, armor and tool stands for displaying full sets of armor and tools.

Very nice. It does work with Feed the Beast as it's already in the Ultimate pack. I really like the look of this one.

Might move this thread down to FTB forum, but will leave it up here today so the max number of people get to see / comment.

Yes someone showed it to me when I temp hosted an ultimate server from home. Certainly was an eye opener. I have so many things to look into once I get the Storage silo fully set up and lag free.

BiblioCraft is very nice. I'm enjoying it quite a bit on my server. You can make some very eye-catching display rooms with it.

I just wonder how this will cope with a larger server? Feels like many of these things can have similar performance problems as crystal chests if used in excess.

Maybe. The crystal chest problem is entirely client side, but it will affect anyone in the area if the chest is loaded, so can have a large effect on a multiplayer server. It is a flaw in the rendering of the multiple items, and increases with the variety of items in the chest. Although, lately, the mod has moved to using the Forge internal renderer instead of a custom renderer, so the problem may be reduced somewhat.
Since each of these new blocks holds only a limited number of items, it may not be as catastrophic.

The issue with the crystal chests was that they were animated also, the items moved and there was no limit on how many they would display, I have searched for this mod creating lag and there is no specific reference to it.
