Funny how there was so much complaining about the beach parties (the mission where you fix the water supply would spawn an extra spawn of bugs on top of the existing, but they wouldn't go away, eventually you'd have hundreds of bugs) but a bugged chosen encounter is okay. *grin*

Add me in game (Stabbitha) if you want to do adv thumping or something. I've been taking a bit of a break as I've been in for 6 months but if there's a good TOG presence to play with I could be tempted to join up for some righteous chosen murder.

ps The leveling system currently is reminiscent of WoT's tier system as opposed to the old level up system. Tbh, I prefer the level up with loot drops system (current system doesn't drop any loot, you have to craft everything), but the devs are very friendly and involved in the forums (best I've experienced so far in beta) and if you can put forward a good idea or case for a change, they are open to feedback.

I tried this for a while, but I have to say that there was too much emphasis on the PVP and the grind...

Has it changed much lately? Have they added more than the occasional twister, and thumper groups for the grind?

Yes, the latest patch has added the start of Chosen incursions, crashed thumpers to try to reassemble and send back, crashed LGVs to recover/protect, a race from Sunken Harbor to Copacabana, and other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting about. Worth spending some time running around and checking out.

Personally, I've avoided the PvP like the plague. I prefer my PvP to be more along the lines of Planetside, less hyperactive bunny hopping.

The biggest problem with Firefall currently is that they have overemphasised PvP at the cost of the PvE experience.

eg. a tiered system rather than levels, no loot drops, fairly flat performance increases in PvE performance etc.

Because even the hardest (eg. melding acolytes) PvE mobs can be gamed once you know their tricks and weaknesses, it only takes a very basic shooter skill set to be able to dominate PvE even in a T1 frame.

I keep hoping they'll do a Guild Wars 2 split for PvP/PvE performance to allow vertical progression in PvE vs horizontal in PvP, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yep same reason why I avoid the PvP in FireFall. So I tend to split up my PvE with GW2/FireFall and get my PvP in PS2. But hey, they are looking at open world PvP early next year so that could be interesting.

I'm normally an FPS man when it comes to PVP but seeing as the PVE was almost non-existant (thumping gets boring after a while) I started playing PVP a bit and rather enjoyed it. It's not a replacement for PS2 or Red Orchestra but it's just that little bit different and nice to play now and then.
