Very much looking forward to this - but wont be signing up for a beta - will wait for it's official release. AA's been such a great title over the years, I'm glad to see it's getting a new full version up and running! :)

For those that can't access that forum, here's some notes from the main thread by PluggerAUS.

Current Status beta
Price free

New Accounts for all players The exisitng accounts will not carry over to AA3 this includes the training component. Everyone starts afresh.

Game Engine Unreal 3
No jumping however you will be able to climb over objects, but jumping to avoid enemy fire is out.
Weapons All weapons used by the AA troops are current service weapons. The 203 is replaced by the M320
Knives Knives are out
Shotguns are more than likely but extremely short range or non combat. Possibly an engineer weapon
Engineers There will be an engineer class
Special Forces Not in the first release, however it could be linked to training and honor to obtain these weapons.
Co-op Not in the first release. The AI will be smarter.

• Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista

Recommended
• 2.4+ GHZ Dual Core Processor

-upgrade to the Unreal Engine 3
-new training missions
-unlockable content
-improved ballistics system
-evamped audio system
-kill messages removed
-achievements
-Battle Planner
-new story/enemy
-jumping removed

Thanks Ned for updating this. In regards to Steam I dont believe its the only option form what I have read. I dont know much about Steam myself so I could be wrong here.

Steam now-a-days is great, at least client-side anyway. I can see it working well with AA3. I'm looking forward to see how they setup the The Steam achievements. This is what they did for UT3 - link.
