Great review!
I'm currently between games (so to speak!) and this sounds just about right! I don't have a wheel, but hell, these things can, and do change!! Pity there isn't a demo of it.
One question though. What's the driving like? Is it anything like a racing sim, as in very realistic? Or is it more like arcade driving, as in Need for Speed? I like both, but NFS style tends to get a little boring for me, as you can pretty much race at full acceleration at all times.
Either way, I'll most likely be getting this one!
Cheers!

I think the handling of the vehicles can be quite realistic especially with force feedback etc and every vehicle certainly feels different to drive.
Driving at full speed here NFS style at all times you can certainly forget about.
It's more like the Porsche game that came out in the NFS series which was the last one in that series that I enjoyed, not too real but not too arcady either, but if you were to compare the NFS series and TDU today they are world's apart.
The only thing part where it lacks realism is that you can't damage your car at all and when getting in an accident it doesn't feel quite real.
But I understand why they chose this option as it would be quite annoying when going for a 100km cruise and then crash your car somewhere halfway and having to start over. The option to have damage yes or no would have been good with repair shops along the way.
A lot of untapped potential in TDU and you'll find yourself thinking, they should have done this and that as well. So this game can only get better and I hope they release more of em but in the mean time still plenty of fun to be had with this one.

Test Drive sounds like a wonderful game, but for all the time and resources I pour into it, I think I'll stick with TMU. There's only so much time to put into games these days. I don't fly as much as I would like. GW and TMU take up the most.

OK my 5 cents now - I love this game, it is absolutely fabulous but... the HardCore more which was supposed to be more realistic - has been played around with too much I think and now the cars have almost no gravity (stupid). Normal mode is good but HC is awesome, I always play HC (takes a Champion status to unlock it). My profile in the game - kg0. I'm with a club already but if we would gather a group of at least 4-5 people to play and just cruise around the island - it would be awesome and I'm putting my hand up to start a club (owning ~50 m dollars, about 10 houses and about 40 cars - easy :> )

I've got it, and like it. Don't play very regularly, but enjoy it when I do.
Only problem with me, is that I don't have a wheel. And seeing as there's no "mouse" support for steering, it's just me and the keys. So until I get a wheel (no plans) I'm just gonna suck at it.

get a gamepad (very cheap) as the game suports that, and i find that they are a necesity with bike riding(although i havent tried it with my joystic yet)
the force feedback settings in the game are quite impressive, the difference in the way the cars feel is unbelievable especially between cars like the Chrysler 300C which feels like a tank and has fairly sluggish steering to the Caternam(sp??) which handles like a gokart
i like it.. i like it alot
