Great E3 overview. Maybe a tad biased though, not a Sony fan Wiz?

I thought Home was a fairly big thing, a free Second-life-type-MMO with direct developer tie-ins and free casual games is new ground for a console, perhaps not everyone's cup of tea but I think it's worth more than a cursory glance. The new PSP slim release for Australia is also Today (Thursday). Most of the other articles I've read about this years E3 said Sony has the best show, Nintendo the worst and MS being so-so.

You're spot on with the Windows stuff, big let down there from everything I've seen/heard. Not sure about the value of all the stats used in the MS and Nintendo articles though.

I also didn't think Nintendo's offerings were that great, Wii fit and the Nintendo's target audience aren't that compelling for a serious gamer like me. The DS section felt a little vacant too. Zapper seems dang nifty though.

Despite my argumentative comments, Overall it was a fantastic read, if anything I'd have liked to see more about the exclusive games for each platform but that'd make for a monster of an article. Love your work Wiz. Now, who do I have to sleep with, or kill, to get to next years E3?

Meh - I had my money in my fist ready to buy one until I researched and found out that Sony had removed the EE/GS chip from the PAL PS3 and replaced it with a Graphic and software EMULATOR. This means a mere 7.3% of older PS and PS2 games are compatible compared to a whooping 98.8% for the US/Japan versions. Add to this we only get one choice of 'hard drive' model (that being the 60GB one) AND we pay more for the "privilege"? Pass!

Microsoft is a gaming power-house. There's no doubt. I didn't say they were a good gaming power-house but a power-house none-the-less. They have almost limitless buckets of money that they can throw at things like software 'development' (read "re-acquisition" of software. This means 'borrowing' code until the owner complains and MS offers to pay out) and their big draw-card, publicity stunts and advert campaigns. You can dress a dog turd in a red dress and make it seem like the greatest red dress to hit our shores since pyramid capital privatisation investments but at the end of the day, it's still a turd. Don't think MS are the only ones that can do this - they are just really good at it

Nintendo? Don't know much about them except that I once booked one of their top executives for speeding once. He was very polite but tried to 'curry favor' by offering me a free console. Never owned a Nintendo, never will! He walked back to the office for his troubles and his car was impounded for *cough* forensic examination.

I'm sad that EA wasn't mentioned (oh oh! Someone just mentioned EA!) No ... no ... I will put my soap box away and save my shiny sword and shield for them another day. Suffice to say, they will not get another one of my dollars, ever again.

I'm dissapointed that it's changed from a big show off yer game to the insider approach. I really look forward to E3 reviews to see what really cool stuff is up and coming.

Thanks for the review on what they did offer

That's nice, but this was about E3, not which console/company you prefer, and MS had very little to show at E3. Sony hit the floor with a lot of new titles and had much more to show than the others IMHO. That's all I was trying to say.
