Very well written article, I myself find it more in the lines of Soldier of Fortune 2 than CSS. CSS isn't as fast paced as COD4 is and the modes make a lot of difference. Add to the fact the guns are a lot more realistic compared the the CS counterparts. I have enjoyed COD4 since I brought the full game after testing the demo out. The rank system and the perks add that cusom feel to the game completely.
People who are just starting out will not be at a loss, if someone dies in front of them, pick up their guns, it's that simple. I have heard people complaining about a lot of things with the game, but the guns have a nice feel to them and having the advantage to shoot through a wall with heavy calibre weapon is a god send when those pesky campers are taking cover. So far my favorite game modes are Search and Destroy and Headquarters, but under Hardcore mode. Hardcore removes the HUD and makes most weapons a 1 shot kill, depending on range of course. This in turn makes people take cover a lot more and use the map to their advantage.
I'll stop now anyway, but again, awesome read on this top game, if I had to give it a rating, it would be 9.5/10 because of one map. I am yet to play the Single player as MP has me hooked.

Thanks very much Hicks. I feel much like you do too with all of what you say, and yes, I know what MP map you are referring to!! Craptastic! Although, I did get more knife kills on that tiny map than any other.
I've seen you online many times, and have had the pleasure of giving your bullets (and knives) a nice warm home. Seriously, give the SP a go. It's really REALLY good! Completely different game from the MP side.
Also, I've not played SOF before, so can't make that comparison, but I've heard the same from many others too.
Thanks for the great feedback.

OK got the game about a week ago, finished it off in few hours on Regular level. It looks very very good, I love it but... there is 1 thing - it is too short for single player! I've noticed the its all about multiplayer and all the modes but hey... its a matter of taste I guess.
Thanks for the review though, it was good.

Thanks very much Melbournite!
Yeah the SP is pretty short, but it's quality all the way. I know I much prefer quality to quantity, but there's no reason why we can't have both. However, I felt that with the range of mission types, and the different feels to the differing armies, it had enough legs to keep me happy.
Also, they have invested a lot in making it replayable. With all of the extra rewards, intel briefcases and timed runs, (not to mention difficulty levels) I think they have done a lot to help alleviate this.
It's not pure SP, it's not pure MP... it's good in both areas, but both are still compromised too.
Thanks for the feedback.

loved the game, but as many have said the SP was a little short but very good none the less and well worth it. plenty of things to make it replayable esp in MP.

Nice review man, still dont know if I would enjoy the game to much online but I know CoD single player is always awesome and I may invest in it for that reason alone.

Great Review Spectre
What will give this game life (In MP mode anyway) will be the Modded Maps that will soon be appearing once the modding tool is release

I finally had a crack at SP on the really really hard mode, and I have to say it's a lot of fun. The gameplay is just really good and for me, got me into the scene. On the ship mission, right at the start, I was frantic trying to get out of the ship, damn it's good ! Also like Welshy said (I can't believe I am agreeing) is the Modding community will give this game a long shelf life with maps and gameplay mods, I have already seen one that makes the maps "Night" so you could use your night vision.
