Must confess that I was looking forward to this but I hold little hope for its longevity now. Will still give it a red-hot go tho.

Great write-up Arep. This is very exciting news - probably not how I envisioned STO playing out but Cryptic are putting their vision out there and it can't come soon enough.

What I found most interesting was the 7 year old girl who wanted to play. Now that bodes well for the future. I also can't wait, but I will probably be playing a Klingon. It would also be nice if they had one "server", then they would know the true 'force' of ToG.

I play Eve-Online and I can say alot of people are waiting for the "ambulation" addon - that is, to be able to walk around as character in station, and not just a pod pilot stuck in a ship. If STO takes off, I bet there will be a lot of migration to STO away from Eve-O, especially from the newer players that have come up against the savagery that is Eve-O gameplay (pvp, and the few rules governing engagements).
Persoanlly I find the idea really appealing. Can't wait to see it in depth!

Looks nice. I'd certainly be interested to see it when it's released to see how much depth they've given the game.

Well Gamespot is listing a Dec 2009 date for release!!! Wowza, now they did say it was closer than anyone thought but that is pretty close. I am thinking this definitely has my interest being a long time Star Trek fan (but only the original, although DS9 wasn't too bad).
