Ah, that would make sense, I suspect. I did probably TOO good of a job sticking with my teammates (most of the time, except the occasional freak-out, as explained in my preview, LOL).
Thanks for reading!

Cheers for the review, pretty well put the demo in a nut shell.
An interesting link here (i know i've posted it before) >> Left 4 Dead Information Thread << - Steam Users' Forums Playing a boss in the "versus" mode will definately keep things interesting I'd imagine.

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of responses in here. Considering both the magnitude and hype surrounding this long-awaited game, I'd think things would be hopping when it came to discussing this huge game. According to several gamer polls, Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead are the two most eagerly anticipated titles of 2008.

Don't let it get you down wytefang. There are already several threads around the forum that have been discussing it for two weeks or more. And looking through the other threads here, response to articles seems limited at best.

Nice write up Wytey!
I'd have to agree with pretty much everything you wrote. I enjoyed the demo, but am going to hold off on the purchase until I read some reviews and get some feedback on the game as a whole. Loved the story about you freaking out and hiding in the closet! I just wish I could say it was out of character! ![]() Thanks for sharing!

Thanks fellas...yeah, I noticed that articles don't quite the response they used to. But it's all good!

Nice write up. I've been playing since the demo was released and they have been making changes. I'm only playing the game on expert. If you are half decent with FPS's you really have to to get a challenge, and it is a challenge. Although now that I have my tactics sorted, if I'm playing with a decent team we can pull off a win as often as we wipe.
The smoker has definitely received a buff since the demo was released. He used to be an easy one shot kill, but all the games I played last night he took several hits to take down (except for one point blank shotgun hit). Also, as someone pointed out, the hunter and smoker need to attack tactically to make a difference, but what a difference they make if they do so. Their purpose is to pick off stragglers, or really make things difficult during a horde rush. The key point to both of them is that they both completely incapacitate a character as soon as they hit them, and unless another character comes to their aid, they will kill them. Best tactic I have found for a horde rush, is back up to a wall or corner and one player crouches and just keeps pushing the horde back while the other players fire over his shoulder. Again, if the hunter or smoker can mess up this strat they can make a world of difference. On expert it doesnt take that many hits to incap a player ![]() One thing I am hoping for is more defensive scores at end of round. It seems like begging for trouble only displaying kills and headhits as score tallies in a game where cooperation is key. They need to also display incap rescues, team heals, zombies rebuffed, all that kind of thing. Otherwise the focus is on nothing but killing, and that's the last thing we need in an online game! |

And OH MAH GAWD. Just finished my first run through of a full stage in the full version and it is SO all that and a bag of potato crisps. It really is the bees knees, monkeys uncle, the real deal, whatever you like. It really blows the pants off the demo and if you really enjoyed the demo, you have GOT to give it a try. If you have buddies that are keen too, there is a four copy deal that sells for the price of three.
So bloody brilliant!! |
