Hi RogueSlayer,
Since this thread looks lonely and neglected. I'll add some input, since in my gaming past i ran a portal news site for Project Entropia, part of the "HQ Gaming Network". (that is now long gone) Have you guys considered an Editorial section covering several aspects of the Vibe of the greater TOG community? Including druming up interest for any one game division event calender. With a "Before & After" on how the event turned out. Sharing participate experiences and any acnedotal advise regarding it. If any divisions are interested by doing DC or Squad Leader interviews of our volunteer leader staff. It also looks like TOG In The Pod fell through the cracks. Which i enjoyed very much, that is something that TOG Journalists can revive. It would be interesting if we had a TOG sports caster covering FPS matches. Giving us the highlights of how our FPS matches went in various divisions. That can be one new segment for "TOG In The Pod". Also doing community spots on the back-bone staff of TOG as a whole. Like the: Admin's, Moderators, Advisors, Engineers, and yourselves as Journalists. Besides giving us some education of what your duties are like and your objectives in our community. I'll stop there with the feedback before i get carried away. ![]() |

Thanks Atrayo!
I need to ask...Have you been reading through my notebook? Honestly, most of that stuff is in there. The only thing that is not in there is the "sports caster" idea. It is early though and with more contributions by existing Journos and suggestions from the community like you have provided here is what we need to see this grow over the next few months.

Hi RogueSlayer,

Perhaps that's how i picked up on the vibe of the angle you were heading to overall for TOG. I do have a question, if i may? Since i have yet to see a summary explanation of what the roles on a sticky thread what the TOG staffers do as in this case: Advisor. What do TOG Advisors do and are they restricted to just their game division or are open to the entire community at large? Thanks. ![]() |

I would like to be considered for a position as Journalist. I meet the requirements or what I would hope would be the requirements for a Journalist position: English major, tons of writing experience (was hired by TSR (pre-WOTC) as an editor before they were sold to WOTC, love gaming, live online and I follow all gaming developments virtually in real-time so I'd be more than qualified to discuss them. I read four different gaming magazines 3 PC, 1 Console, and frequent many of the gaming news sites multiple times a day. Finally, I've been a LONG-running TOG member and fan.
Thanks in advance for the consideration. Suggestions for the Front Page news: Have an area for each of the main genres, and a rotating column to cover less-popular genres (that way they each get some coverage over time). Make sure that people who are writing about each genre are considered to be very familiar and/or even fans of that genre, as they would be the best person to write about their favorite genre. That's a start..

Hi again Fang!
Being a TOG Journo is not about resumes and work history. It is simply about having fun, being a team player and doing something you like that also contributes to making TOG a better site. As the Journo position is new (in its current incarnation at least) we are still feeling our way around. It may be a few months before we know if we have enough current Journos or not. in the mean time, I invite you to use the "Submit News" forum and we will get your articles up!

I'll be happy to do that but I'd like to know how the current journos got their roles? Also why would it take several months to figure out how many journalists TOG would need? (Just curious...)

Hi there
I was thinking of writing a series of articles for TOG around Optimising Your Gaming Experience. I have been in IT some time now (20 years) and the biggest problem I see is that people just don't know how to look after their home PCs (gaming rigs) and/or do not know how to set them up optimally for gaming. I was thinking of a series of shortish articles, maybe one per fortnight, with titles such as: Optimise Your Gaming Experience #1: Disabling Un-needed Services Optimise Your Gaming Experience #2: Boost Your Network Connection Optimise Your Gaming Experience #3: Understanding Video Settings Optimise Your Gaming Experience #4: Mildly Overclock Your CPU Optimise Your Gaming Experience #5: Understanding BIOS Settings etc etc (Actually #1 would probably have to be more than one article as that one could go on a bit.) As you can see they start simple and get more advanced as we go along. Let me know if you think this is a good idea, or not. Regards
