Further to the release....TOG has 2 America's Army servers.
In Australia @ 203.123.67.170:1716 This is an official honour server. Provided courtesy of Gilgarath. In the US @ 204.13.5.146:1716. This is unofficial at the moment, but should be Honour soon. Provided courtesy of Stewmeat. All new players are very welcome, we have our regular PubStack nights Thursday 9:30pm EST for Aussies and Tuesday Saturdays and Sundays at 6:00pm Pacific / 9:00pm Eastern. |

Nice article. At the risk of getting totally flamed, I'm personally still uncomfortable playing a game created by the US government, and is effectively used as a recruitment tool.
Please understand by saying this I'm not having a go at the US armed forces personel at all - I just feel that war in real life, and war in gaming are pretty different things and should perhaps remain seperate. Anyway - I would be interested to hear what the rest of you guys think? (edit - format/typo)

Well maybe that's fair enough, but at the end of the day and from my own point of view, it's just a game!
If the US Army do use AA for a recruitment tools then they will have alot of Millhouse lookalikes, with hard drives full of porn, running around with AK47s in the front line ???? ...... hardly!! Give it a shot ...you might like it |

ROFL @ Pugger!! I can just see it now...
Instructor - "Recruit, as part of your Engineering training you will advance through this track and disarm the booby traps" Recruit - "Heheeeee...you said booby...heh heh heh" |

![]() Agree that it's just a game -I work in game dev myself - but I'm simply saying that the US military's motivation for producing this game is probably not purely so we can have fun - but more likely direct marketing. I'm not hot under the collar about this - simply making an observation. It may be a good game... I'm just not that comfortable with the association. Cheers, (n)

Napes you are right they do use this as a recruiting tool but here we view this as what it is in essence and that is as a game we play it that way to.
I don't think this is the place for a political discussion. ![]() |
