Thumbs up

Hello Ashlann & Father,

Although i feel a bit awkward bumping up this original episode of the TOG podcast. (where no one has posted feedback on this episode) Since i'm playing (no pun intended) catch up listening to all these podcasts.

I enjoyed the intriguing observations of the show. Like when Father stated that the games industry is placing more resources into console games than PC's. Or the wide open potential of Historic based RPG's. That the games industry has only dabbled indirectly with at this point in time.

It was also refreshing hearing about other games i don't usually play. But are nonetheless interesting to hear they're features in regards to pro's & cons.

Now i'm onto episode 2.

Keep up the good work.

I've just got an iPhone and I'm new to these Podcast things. I've downloaded them all and when time permits I'll check out each one

Ashlann, you mentioned you really enjoyed playing Left 4 Dead for 3-4 hours then were uncertain of what more the game could offer. Both yourself and Stef touched on Achievemnts in various games. L4D achievement are unlike achievements in many other games. Each one does not give you progression onto another or provide you with anything extra. What they do is provide you with a large variety of ways to play. Some simply add some fun to a game or two while others alter gameplay if you and your team are going for certain ones. Check out the full list and you'll see what I mean - link.

Stef said that Consoles "just work". I must say that I'm a PC only gamer (so far) but if I had kids wanting to game I really do see the attraction of consoles for this "just work" reason. No drivers, nothing for the kids to corrupt, etc etc

Ashlann, you mentioned while discussing Assassin's Creed that sound is important to you for immersion. I TOTALLY AGREE! In my opion this is so much more important the even graphics

Fallout 3... both you guys have me very interested in this game now. Added to my list.

The FPS game The Hunter was discussed. This one is also on my list. A thread in the Public FPS forum was started a while back. If anyone has played this game I'd love to hear more about it - here.

Stef, I've just watched the Star Wars: The Old Republic Deceived Cinematic Trailer. I'm assuming that's the one you said was impressive. I agree, yes it is

Thanks for an enjoyable Podcast!

Thank you for your comments & feedback Ned! I am going to have to get into L4D online a bit more - I've only being playing it SP and at LANs. Sounds interesting!

Not yet but will "definitely" do so soon.
I'm looking at getting it via Steam.
Fallout 3 on Steam

I need to finish off some other gaming stuff first.
Like you guys have said, sooooo many games, so little time

I got it off Steam mate - good way to get any game, imho. I'm sure you've heard Stef and I constantly promote the seemingly endless good qualities of Steam.

HUGE download though - 6G+ from memory.

Excellent work guys though i do have one question. i am sure there was a mention of a point n click game somewhere in the cast at least i hope it was this one.....you would not happen to remember the name off hand would you as it would save me downloading cast again

Yes i am going to have to go get fallout now also after listening to all the good talk....i may even get elder scrolls after listening to podcast 2 yesterday.
