TMNT Smash-Up
Word is the folks over at Game Arts are busy working on a new 2D brawler based on everyone’s four favorite turtle ninjas. Even more exciting is the fact that the development team is one part Smash Brothers Brawl, one part Ninja Gaiden 2!
The brawler, imaginatively titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up is being headed by Game Arts, who previously did some work on Super Smash Brothers Brawl and also Team Ninja, who did some of the development work on Ninja Gaiden 2.
The game boasts a 4 player style similar to that of the Smash Brothers franchise. Much to the dismay of old-school turtle’s fans like me, Game Arts has decided to go with the artistic style of the 2007 CGI remake TMNT. Modes confirmed to be in the game include Arcade, Battle Royale, Survival, Tournament, Swap-Out, and Practice, as well as an online mode for four players and mini-games.
An awesome inclusion is the fact that Mirage Studios, the original comicbook company who created the TMNT characters, has been brought onboard to provide animated cut scenes for the game.
Look for it Q4 2009 on Wii and PS2.
For those not lucky enough to own either of these consoles, there is always the remake of the SNES classic. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is out now for Xbox360 and coming soon for PS3.
