IWNet possible virus distribution platform?

This is a post i put in the Cod4 MW2 PC forum and was asked to pop it over here for you folks to make yourselves aware of.

Some information has come to light that exploits are spreading, virus like, through IWNet.

IWNet is supposed to create an exploit free envonment for players to play. Already the Rocket Launcher/Human Bomb exploit has made a nuisance of itself. Now there is an unlimited ammo exploit making the rounds.

Horrorfyingly, this exploit can spread from one console to another just by joining a game hosted by someone who has the exploit. It spreads like a virus from one machine to the next upon contact and if you are unlucky enough to make contact with an infected system, you have no choice, you have the exploit.

Just for you folks that may have PS3's and 360's i have read there is a band aid solution, disconnect from the net and turn off your console. It sits in the cache and isn't permanent.

they've fixed the javelin glitch and that patch caused a new glitch which allows for tampered gamemodes to become real gamemodes that count towards your online exp.
and those gamemodes include infinite ammo + no reload. and no, its not a virus and doesnt stick to your game. it is merely a hacked server mode which effects you as long as you are in the server. once you leave the glitched game and join another unglitched game, everything is back to normal.

From the link Yvnu posted you need to disconnect from XBOX live and reboot your console to get rid of the mod-virus. Not detrimental to your machine, but a pain in the arse and a buzz-kill for gamers that are not in to cheating.

nope, i've been in plenty of infinite ammo matches (for a day or so after it started, everyone was setting them up so half the games you join would be like this). but then everyone realised how annoying it was and stopped setting up those matches. anyways, even after playign in several of these servers, i've never had to reset xbox to return it to normal.

when you join another game through the normal find match system, everything returns to normal. the only way for this mod to carry through would be for you to setup a hacked match through the private match glitch. and if you do get this when setting up a hacked match, then you cant complain because its a hacked match. and thus you cant expect things to run smoothly.
