Default Resonance of Fate: A better Final Fantasy?

I normally like J-RPGs, and yet I HATED FF XIII.

My review should be in Time Out Sydney soon, but in short, I found it tedious beyond belief. It was a linear yawn fest and I wish I could have that time back to do something more constructive, like clean my belly button lint or peel paint off the wall.

Resonance of Fate, on the other hand is one of those 'traditional' J-RPGs but with an amazing fight system - instead of swords you have guns and fight "matrix style" with leaps and weaves and so on.

Pure gameplay:

To give you a sense of how much I am enjoying this game:
With FF I had to force myself to play it. I had about 10 sessions of about an hour or two length of gaming - I couldn't stand playing any more than that.

After starting Resonance of Fate, I only stopped when my flatmate came home after work - at 1 am on a Tuesday Morning.

I'm not playing it right now because my xbox RROD - but will get one this weekend so I can finish it over the long weekend

Strongly recommended!

I grabbed this for the PS3, absolutely loving it. I did enjoy FF XIII, but agree that this is far better in terms of gameplay. The customization options are extremely cool but will eat up your cash fast, especially when you're able to craft all the sub attachments for weapons. Seriously, I have a pistol with 2 grips and 3 barrels
