Default 'MAG' (PS3) Interdiction DLC 23rd June (Updated)

The news gets better and better for MAG.

In addition to the latest patch, which really improved the game no end, they have also decided to release the first DLC.

New downloadable content as follows to be released 22 June.

Quote:
MAG may be massive but it is an action shooter at its core. You can run around and shoot enemies, throw grenades, and drive vehicles just like any other shooter except with MAG you’ll do it with up to 256 players. The team at Zipper was one of the pioneers of online gaming on consoles with the SOCOM franchise and they’ve used this knowledge to create a brand new server architecture to make an original game like MAG possible.

Beginning June 22, Zipper Interactive's first MAG expansion pack, dubbed “Interdiction,” will be available to players all over the world for $9.99 US (prices in other regions may vary).

“But what’s in it,” you say? Well, for starters, Zipper are introducing a brand new gametype calling “Interdiction.” Built for up to 128 simultaneous players, Interdiction challenges two rival factions to be attackers and seize control of three command posts with the aid of several heavily-armed convoys on three brand new maps (Lake Bayano Spur, Sovot Motorway, and Iron Cree Quarry).

To make it even more interesting, all three maps are made completely faction neutral – allowing all sides to play any map whenever they want – in addition to supplying every squad with their own APC vehicle (that’s 16 APCs on the map at once!). To win, players must capture and hold as many objectives as possible to increase their score while concurrently depleting their enemy’s. In short, Interdiction mode = crazy battlefield mayhem.

A new gametype and three new maps isn’t all Zipper Interactive packed either. As an extra bonus, they've also added the ultimate in MAG protection, our “Heavy Improved” armor set. Trust us when we say that it doesn’t matter if you’re Raven, Valor, or SVER — if you don the Heavy Improved armor consider yourself a walking tank.

To reward you for spending your hard-earned dollars on our new DLC, Zipper ’ll also be including a handful of brand new in-game medals, ribbons and trophies!

Ribbons
  • Jump Start – Capture 2 Command Posts in a round of Interdiction
  • Mowing the Grass – Get 10 kills with a vehicle turret in one round
  • Dashed Hopes – Destroy 2 mines with gunfire in one round
  • Cannonball Rally – Become an MVP (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) in a round of Interdiction
Medals
  • Roadside Assistance – Capture 10 Interdiction control points over your career
  • Landscape Architect – Get 50 kills with a vehicle turret over your career
  • BOD – Destroy 20 mines with gunfire over your career
  • Designated Driver – Earn 5 Interdiction MVPs over your career Trophies
Trophies
  • King of the Hills (Bronze) – Earn the Roadside Assistance medal while playing Interdiction
  • Red Ball Express (Silver) – Earn the Designated Driver medal while playing Interdiction
  • Road Runner (Gold) – Capture 3 Interdiction control points in a single round
The year is 2025. The optimism and harmony of the 2010s were completely eradicated by 2020. A global crisis loomed. Food shortages sparked riots, currencies plummeted, fuel reserves dwindled, and oil-producing nations began to ration what remained. It is a dark future. Governments earmarked money for humanitarian efforts, overseas security, and intelligence services which, over time, found its way the coffers of a small group of Private Military Corporations (PMCs). These three private armies (Valor, Raven, and S.V.E.R.) then began to recruit aggressively. Soldiers without a country, the contractors fight wars that never happened. This is the nature of the Shadow War.

From the award-winning developer, Zipper Interactive, comes the next evolution in gaming – MAG. A first-person, online-only shooter, MAG lets you experience battles with up to 256 real people across a global battlefield. Players join one of three PMCs fighting each other in a shadow war and can either become skilled operatives or rank up to eventually command their private army to victory. Featuring unprecedented online action of a scale never before devised with player controlled strategic assets such as calling in air strikes, mortar barrages and parachute insertions; the persistent Shadow War in MAG keeps players coming back for more.

Utilizing a sophisticated ranking system and chain of command model, MAG manages the large number of players by breaking them down into squads of eight players. Players climb their way up the chain of command to take control of their 8-person squad, then 32-person platoon, and ultimately a 128-person army.

Key Features

Unprecedented Action – For the first time ever, fight 256 real player battles in hi-def online combat for contracts around the world.
Command Structure – Rise through the chain of command, earning the right to lead an eight-man squad, 32-man platoon, and even command a full 128-man army.

Persistent Shadow War – Each battle victory or loss contributes to your PMCs world standing, moving them on the offensive or pulling them back to the defensive.

Choose an army – Three distinct PMCs from which to choose from, each with their own history, personality, and style.

Customization – Customize your character and begin to pursue a wide variety of combat specialties.
This is going to be one wild ride my friends. I look forward to playing alongside you in the coming expansion. I nominate CADDER as designated driver with Pure_Mongrel a close second.

Good pick up A-1 I saw this today myself, and it sounds really good, and not that expensive. I will be getting it as soon as it is available.
Hope to see more Toggers on though

Oh, and one final note: All MAG players will have to download a small “Interdiction Activation Patch” starting today. It’s only 4MB in size and prepares your copy of MAG to be compatible with the Interdiction game mode.

Interdiction itself can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store and weighs in at 440MB.

Cost to be confirmed.

Yep got it but due to region restrictions it wont work with my copy for some reason, so I wont be joining in on the new maps. I have never had this problem with the XBOX Grrrrrrrrr So I may be binning this game soon, a real shame!! as I do like it.

So you bought MAG from overseas.

Managed to buy and patch it with the DLC taking note of the correct DLC install based on the numbers on your box.

but as your in a different region to that which the game was purchased from, you can't play the DLC.

but I thought all games are region free.
