PS3: Red Dead Redemption Question

This is probably my first post in the console section of TOG as normally i prefere to play my games on the PC, however since the forementioned game is unlikely for the forseeable future (or ever), to be released on the PC ive decided to use my PS3 for the reason i bought it (besides blu-ray of course), and that is to play console only games (like heavy rain and FF13) and Red dead redemption.

The question i have is that im pretty useless at using a controller for mouse aiming, hence i find first and third person shooters very hard indeed since im use to using a mouse and keyboard.

I just wondered what the aiming was like in Red Dead, does it have an auto aim like the latter GTA's and if not how critical is it with regards to split second aiming etc..... For reference i ended up buying Just Cause 2 on the PC as i couldnt get on with the aiming in the PS3 demo.

Thanks for any help you can give me, as i will give it a miss if its to difficult with regards to aiming.

I also suck at control pad aiming, but I found it workable and very enjoyable.

Dead eye is bullet time so it helps give you the time to aim.

This game is so good it would be a shame to miss it.

I did play it on Xbox though, I find the PS3 contoller harder to use.

Yeah i am in the same boat i cannot play FPS with a Joypad at all (heck i suck with mouse) but aiming and shooting is really quite easy in this game.

You get auto aim here like in GTA's and you can switch it off/on on the fly for achievements and certain mission objectives that require free aim. I myself switched it off for the trophy at the start and never put it back on.

If you really do not want to buy it just in case you will not like it give me a shout, i would be happy to send my copy to ya to try out.

I can't play FPSes with a controller either, and the auto aim was very intuitive. RDR has to be one of the best games I've played. And I'd say it's well worth it.

Thanks guys youve been very helpful i once tried to play one of the call of duty's on my ps3 and i must have looked like a real games newbie hehe, its good to see im not alone with the aiming.

That was a very kind gesture Bawheidbob but after reading all your comments im happy to give it ago so i will order a copy and get playing over the holidays, im not much of a trophy hunter but i will try it with auto aim off and if i really really suck i will turn it back on

Ive recently been watching all the clint eastwood western movies so ive been itching to play one! especially since im a fan of rockstars GTA's. Thanks again guys!!

Great game, just wish more toggers played it online as the multiplayer is great fun I reckon, most people seem to ignore it though

Thanks Its going to be hard not to try it out before the holidays :P

I dont have a router with my internet connection (will have to get one i know) so my net is plugged into my pc so i only go online every couple of months with my PS3 to update it, check out demos etc... which is a shame. Gonna have to fix that in the new year.

Aye one thing i am annoyed i never got a chance to try out is the multiplayer heard good things about it.
