Question PSN Pass Question

So we bought Resistance 3 today and we know that is has PSN Pass associated to Online Play.

Some people have stated that it is a system based pass. Any other account on the same machine will be covered.

My question relates to accounts.

I own the main account and my kids have sub accounts. I have my own PS3 which I sometimes share with my daughter and my son has his own machine.

If I activate the PSN Pass on my machine, if associated to my account on PSN am I then able to activate it on my sons's machine given that his account is a sub account of mine?

This could spell the end of my online gaming depending on which machine PSN Pass is installed on. I refuse to pay for additional passes.

I THINK you should be right. If you activate the pass on your machine, your son will have to login to your account on his machine. Then download the pass again through your download list under transaction management. He can never delete your account of his machine otherwise the pass won't work.
This is how game trading works so I am ASSUMING this is how the online passes work BUT I could be wrong.
Let me know if it works

I'll do a little more research before I attempt it as they have not indicated how you can buy a second PSN Pass if it fails.

He has all our accounts on his machine as well so as you said it might work the same way as game trading.

I really hate this stuff, how greedy do the publishers need to be?

I kind of feel Sony should just bring in a monthly subscription like Microsoft and be done with these pass issues and the like.

So people are paying money for Plus subscription and if they are buying second hand games with online content, which appears to be all of them these days, have to pay for PSN Pass.

Why not just tidy it all up with a singles subscription like Microsoft but encompassing online game play and additional abilities.

Another thing to consider is overseas purchases. If our suspicions are correct on PSN Pass then trying to buy a PSN Pass from an overseas Store could become an issue as well.

This could force us into buying local yet again which I'm not happy about given Aussie games are twice the price of overseas for the most part.

Thank god it's only a few titles so far which are looking at it. Yes the best titles.

The flow on effect of this could be second hand games might be pushed down because people have to buy PSN Pass to use them online.

Thoughts?

Online passes isn't for Sony (even though they would take their share)
It is to counter act the sales pre-owned games. It's a way the game developers can get their cut everytime the game resells.

I don't agree with it at all. I think once someone pays for the game at full price, that should be enough.

This will be killing EB games and other companies that sell pre-owned.
Soon we won't be able to trade games in, probably it will be the next step

Think again mate
This is going to be every online game.
It started with Skate 3, you couldn't upload any footage without using your online code.
I have already had 3 games that require online passes.

This one user pass crap is not just a SONY thing. EA have added it to all their console games that have online play. For my son and I to play online (at alternate times) we need to pay extra money for a second online pass. Other developers / publishers have jumped on the band wagon (the new Space Marine from THQ for example).
