Default Harddrive Upgrade

I just upgraded from a 40g to a 250g
If you haven't done it yet guys it is very easy
Here is what I done

1 - Buy a sata laptop drive
(I bought a Seagate Momentus 250GB 2.5" 5400RPM SATA) $100
It has to be sata drive, Also it has to be 5400RPM or you console will
get to hot. Size is up to you

2 - Watch this video

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuyQPW3bDS0"][YouTube - How to upgrade your PS3 hard drive][/ame]

3 - Backup all your save games on usb or external harddrive

4 - Do it

5 - Turn on your PS3 and follow on screen instructions

6 - The boring part reinstall all the patches, saves and demos

Put a Samsung 250g hd in mine almost as soon as I got it.

Was surprised at at how easy Sony made it to change the hard drive.

Yep - all good except watch out for getting any support issues with the machine.

All content will be nuked! :P

But then again - what you would do would be to send the machine back to sony with the original small hard disk in it.

Ahh - but there lies the problem. If they send you back a re-manufactured model (ie. not your machine) you may find that it wipes your hard disk automatically when you insert it.

I'm not sure how this all works - but this is what I was told by the sony support guy. If you ever had issue like Cadder and myself have had - you may need to request a repair and not a replace....

But I could be wrong.
