My 80gig IS backwards compatible (Motorstorm bundle). 80's are software emulated, but most of the PS2 games work.

But after playing PS3 games, would you really want to play PS2 games on it?

When the PS2 came out, backwards compatibility was a must for me. Then, after getting it, I never actually played any PS games on that. Depends on the individual whether backwards compatibility is a requirement I guess. But still, it's good they included it.

Maybe the 80gb is backward compatible in the US. As far as I know the only Ps3 that can play PS2 games in Aus is the 60gb model from launch.

Yup you nailed it. I have the 60GB PS3 on launch but it's now running a 250GB HD.

Yes we have found we tend to play only PS3 titles and the PS2 titlews are gathering dust. Especially with all the new content coming out so fast.

Why not go all out and go 320GB. The hard drive that is in the PS3 is a regular 2.5" laptop SATA drive.

Where - eBay for sure if your happy using that. I would imagine quite a few computer stores would have something.

How - How to upgrade your PlayStation 3 Hard Drive - PS3

It's definitely a good idea. I did a long time ago on my 60GB Aussie model.

Such things void warranty at all....would of been so much easier if usb externals were able to be used.
