 32GB SD card slot and Music player features ... nice. Downloadable games store ... the end of little cartridges?

I'll still be buying a DS lite next week. The features of the lite will do me fine, and I can always grab a DSi down the track.

The only thing bad about the release is that they only come in black or white. My wife wanted one, so it'll have to be white I guess.

I believe the price will be around $300. So a fair bit more expensive for a handheld.

A bit overpriced, isn't it. Maybe Nintendo think they have no real competition in this versatile handheld field, and will charge whatever they want based on the popularity of the current DS version ?
I had hoped it would be around the 230 mark.

The price will most likely drop for people willing to wait 6 months. I have always waited for console to be pretty old before i buy one, so any bugs are fixed and there is a large selection of games. A lot of consoles have been and gone that i have never even played. Now the DS lite is getting towards the end of it's run, it's time for me to finally get one.
