backup hdd
Just lost my LBP save to a corrput file, an my son lost Star Wars Force Unleashed save same way. Not going to worry about warranty as I'll be upgrading soon anyway.
I just bought an external hdd. Questions: Does the external hdd have to used solely for the PS3 save? I've already loaded it up with videos, music and stuff. Should I have done the PS3 first? Does it save an image or compress it all to a file?

You can copy save files for games specificly from the PS3 HD without doing a full backup/image of the PS3 HD
Wouldn't hurt to make a folder or partition to store the save files in on the portable USB HD.

Be aware that some games won't let you back up your saved games. Guitar Hero World tour won;t let me copy the saved game data, nor will ACDC Rockband
