PS3: internet access

this is a great function in the PS3 XMB, i'm using it right now for starting this thread.
my PC is playing-up, plus i'm hopeless with a keyboard, so it looks like the PS3 might be a better option for posting in TOG forum.

the predictive text function and on-screen keyboard are excellent.

i dont know if other consoles do all that, but it's worth a look

this is the only way i have been posting and surfing the internet for quite some time now. lm hooked up wiresly.

l use the remote control to operate everything. l originally got a bluetooth keyboard and mouse (which was damn expensive) but couldn't load the software onto the PS3, so i took it back and got the genuine PS3 keypad that clips over a hand contoller. l should use it more often.
l also got the genuine PS3 earpiece/mic which i haven't used yet. Not sure if they are any good?

the game pad works for me as i cant type for s#*t
so anything like keyboard is not an option.

I've used it before to surf. I also used the controller. The zoom feature i thought was great, but i really needed the keyboard.

agreed. the zoom feature works great. it's quick and simple

the main advantage for me is posting's so much faster than using the PC with on-screen keyboard and track-ball. with that setup, it was taking me all day to do one reply ....seriously, a whole day!

the only downside ive experienced, is sometimes the PS3 freezes. seems to happen mostly after pressing L1 button to go back a couple of web pages.
it's a pain in the arsenal when things dont respond to the controller, so ya have to restart manually at console.
i wonder if it would still respond to the Bluray remote when frozen? has anyone tried restarting with that remote when the PS3 freezes?

Would be interesting in how it compares to running on a PC.

When it freezes it occasionally can be restarted by the bluray remote by pressing the PSP button to turn off then any button to start.
Just depends on the cause of the freeze.

Oh yeah the keypad l was talking about is actually a minature keyboard.

Without stealing the thread too much, as i was talking about before does anyone know if it is possible too install the software for a blutooth keyboard and mouse for the PS3 to enable the extra functions?
l did try it but i couldn't get it to install

I picked up a Logitech Blue-tooth Keyboard and it works great. It has all the buttons from the controller as well as a laptop style track pad.

Highly recommend!

update-- in an earlier post i mentioned that the system was freezing when using the web-browser.

it seemed to happen when pressing the L1 button to go back a couple of pages.
so now i just move from page to page a little slower, and i get no more freezes.

overall, the process is still much faster than with a PC.

Are you saying it has the same buttons as the PS3 controller ? the triangle square etc ?
So is it an official PS3 keyboard ?
l just can't find it anywhere
